Skillwise Foundation reaches young, rural South Africans and helps them to build the skills they need to get into work. Over 3000 students have benefitted from Skillwise training, opening up new opportunities for future work, and opportunities.
Skillwise Foundation works with local entrepreneurs to set up small rural training centres, complete with all the technology and training they need to offer basic IT training to the local population.
They in turn advertise, and run a 6-week / 100 hour training courses using Skillwise's unique training platform & methodology, specifically designed for learners new to IT, and often excluded from good educational opportunities.
Outcomes are extremely positive, with over 50% of recent graduates succeeding in their next career goal (job, or further education)
The Foundation raises funds to support new and existing centres, and to offer scholarships to deserving learners.
Listen to founder, Dr Robin Stead, explaining why this matters, and how the Skillwise approach is working for rural young people.
