Pastor Amy Figg Ley is a graduate of the University of Kentucky (Pre-Law Studies), Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M. Div. in Pastoral Care and Counseling), and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary (D. Min. in Advanced Ministry Practice). Additionally, she has a specialization in Pediatric and Adolescent Spirituality through the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program, having served at Norton Health System in Louisville, KY; Bowman Gray Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC; and Baptist Health System in Knoxville, TN.
She loves traveling with friends, baking, theological reading, needlework (cross-stitch and needlepoint), coffee dates with Joe, and supporting Dresden prepares to graduate and move on to Maryville College.
She has served at St. John’s for nearly thirty years: Minister to Youth and Young Adults (1996-1999), Associate Pastor of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry and Specialized Pastoral Care (2000-2012), Associate Pastor of Faith Formation and Leadership Development (2013-2019), and Senior Pastor (2020-present).
Pastor Amy’s great joys as a pastor at St. John’s include walking with families through baptism, communion education, Confirmation studies, mission trips, and special worship services; sharing sacred conversations, sometimes through laughter, sometimes through tears; leadership development, both lay professionals and rostered leaders; and living into God’s dream for life on the corner of Fifth and Broad(way)!
