Privacy Policy for SixString
Last updated: 13 August 2026
Overview
SixString ("the app") is developed and published by HEXCR Games ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and how it is used. We are committed to collecting only what is necessary and to being transparent about how it is handled.
Information we collect
Account & Sign-In
SixString requires you to sign in with a Google account before you can play. We use this to give you a stable, secure identity so your game history — your streak, past Daily Challenge results, and Practice history — can be backed up and restored if you switch to a new device. When you sign in, we receive your Google account's email address and a unique account identifier from Google. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not post anything to your Google account or access your Google contacts, Drive, or other Google services. Your game history is stored against your account identifier in our database (Google Firebase / Firestore). It is not shared with other players or any third party, and is only ever shown to you, in your own copy of the app. Signing in with Google is also governed by Google's own Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Daily Challenge Results
When you complete a Daily Challenge, the following information is sent to our servers: the word you spelled, whether you completed the challenge, your rarity score, and the date. This information is associated with your anonymous device identifier, not with your name or any personal details.
Advertising Data
The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use your Android Advertising ID to serve personalised advertisements. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time in your device settings under Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation. For more information on how Google uses data from advertising, please visit: google.com/policies/privacy/partners.
How we use your information
To calculate your daily Uniqueness score and make it available to you the following day.
To allow you to catch up on missed daily challenges.
To display advertisements that help support the free availability of the app.
Who we share your information with
Google Firebase / Firestore — daily challenge results and your anonymous device identifier are stored in Google's Firebase cloud infrastructure. Google's privacy policy applies: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Google AdMob — advertising identifiers may be used by AdMob for ad personalisation. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with any other third parties.
Data retention
Daily challenge results are retained indefinitely.
Data deletion
To request deletion of your account data, submit the "Request Data Deletion" form via the app's Settings & Privacy screen.
Your rights
If you are located in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, you have rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. You may also delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the app.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 beyond what is described above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date.
