Davido's album The Baddest was scheduled for release in June 2015[69] but its release was postponed to October 10 that year.[70] Two days prior to this date, the release was again postponed because an unnamed corporation expressed an interest in distributing it.[70] Davido had released the album's cover art and track listing earlier that year.[69] The Baddest was planned to feature production from Shizzi, Del B, Spellz, J Fem, Don Jazzy, Puffy Tee, Uhuru, Kiddominant and Young John.[69] It was also going to feature guest artists such as P-Square, Don Jazzy, Runtown, Uhuru, DJ Buckz, Akon, Meek Mill, Wale and Trey Songz.[69] In January 2016, Davido announced on Twitter he signed a record deal with Sony Music; his announcement was met with mixed reactions.[71] The record label put out a press release to confirm the deal.[72] Davido's contract with Sony required him to release two albums, and allowed him to retain the rights to his music and performances.[73]

Some people do not have the gift of singing. Some have the gift of playing musical instruments. I was born a singer and an instrumentalist. There is a particular level that you will get to and you will rise as a musician. I grew to the level of owning my own band and releasing albums. I served other people over the years. I wrote songs and when it was time for me to come out, I came out.

With 2020 coming to an end and some of our favourite musicians yet to serve us the album as they promised us this year. Although we have seen some amazing body of works blowing our minds, most especially Wizkid's Made In Lagos which is still fresh and banging in our ears, we can't wait to see what the others have to offer before the year runs out. So here are some Nigerian music albums to expect this November.

It was raining albums in the Nigerian music industry last year. While the industry giants like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Adekunle Gold blessed us with new albums adding to their catalogue of albums, it was also raining debut albums from the likes of Rema, Omah Lay, Naira Marley, Bella Shmurda, Asake, and others. It is another year again and for an industry with multiple Grammy winners, multiple platinum certifiers, and an Oscar nominee, it is just another day in the office for music in Nigeria. It has been confirmed that the likes of Davido and Adekunle Gold are adding to their album catalogue this year, but there are still established artists in the Nigerian music industry who are yet to release their debut albums.

If you are a lover of the diverse sounds that exist in the Nigerian music sphere, you have at one point or another listened to one of these albums. If you haven't, consider this a late introduction. The best thing about music is that it's never too late to discover new and good music.

The rap duo Show Dem Camp, first experimented with the sound on this album series with their 2013 single, Feel Alright featuring BOJ. It embodied the spirit of the new generation listening to music at that time and to feed their audience, they dropped the first of the Palmwine Music albums in 2017. The success of that album allowed them to further experiment with the sound and drop two more albums in 2018 and the most recent one in the series in 2022.

Last but definitely not least is the ineffable MI Abaga. The Nigerian rap kingpin can weave a story like no one else and Ade's music is so good it should be legal. His 2009 project, Illegal Music is the first of his album series. On these albums he takes instrumentals that sampled other popular tracks by other artists ad made those songs his own. The amazing reception the first album got made MI push the margin even further with the other two albums in the series. He features artists like Ice Prince, Phenom, Djinee and many more.

While numerous music albums are being released frequently, only a few stand out. Although every music album that has been released this year so far has been a blast, alas, we will only look at the ones that stood out.

Hugh Tracey presented the music on these albums according to instrument type, geographic region, and in the case of Princess Magogo, to feature an exceptional musician. The original LPs are true collector's items. Enjoy the storytelling of African folktales by Hugh Tracey himself on MOA 17, 33, 34, & 35. Tracks on MOA14, MOA15, and MOA 16 are by various African groups who received the Osborn Award for best recording of the year, selected by the African Music Society, which was founded by Hugh Tracey in 1948.

As a fan of Wizzy, it is hard for me to conclude that these two efforts were the best thing he has done in over 10 years, considering that he has had 33 music videos 44 singles, 4 studio albums 16 guest appearances 7 covers and freestyles. Yet only the Hollywood attachments could get him a sit at the table. 006ab0faaa
