The Lakewood Municipal Court Veterans Process (LMCVP) was established for veterans charged with criminal violations in Lakewood Municipal Court, due to recognition that returning veterans face unique problems related to their service and have earned special benefits that may help address them.
The Lakewood Municipal Court Veterans Process (LMCVP) was established for veterans charged with criminal violations in Lakewood Municipal Court, due to recognition that returning veterans face unique problems related to their service and have earned special benefits that may help address them.
The LMCVP, which actively started accepting cases in December 2014, assists in promoting public safety by holding justice-involved veterans accountable for their behavior while referring to and monitoring treatment, interventions and support through a team based approach and increased probation and judicial monitoring.
The GOALS of the LMCVP are to:
Stabilize and reintegrate returning veterans
Encourage sobriety and mental health wellness
Reduce recidivism
Improve compliance with court orders
Leverage the resources of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, Jefferson Center for Mental Health, Lakewood Elks Club, Rocky Mountain Human Services,.
