In the 2021 Bond Election, Rowlett voters approved the 2021 CIP Bond Package Proposition C, which included the replacement of Rowlett's Outdoor Warning Siren System with a new, state of the art system. This project is currently in progress, but will provide adequate and redundant siren coverage across the city. The above map details the completed siren installations and coverage (green circles), as well as incomplete/future siren installations (red and yellow circles). For more information, please visit the 2021 Bond Election website.

Do not call 911 to ask why the warning sirens have been activated. Only call 911 if you have an emergency to report for Police, Fire or EMS assistance. Contact Rowlett OEM at 972-412-6230 for answers to questions regarding sirens and siren activation.

If you believe that the siren output at your Rowlett residence or business location is below the designed 70dB OWS system minimum, you may request that Office of Emergency Management staff collect a sound sample from your property. Please email requests to oem@rowlett.com.

Is that such a bad thing, paying someone for going through the efforts to record, transfer, choose, trim, possibly de-noise/EQ/compress, normalize, and then upload the file for someone else's use? It's the basic stuff of "making a living" to a sound designer. Not that anyone's gonna get rich off of fees earned (key word there, "earned") from a few downloads of that sample, but still, that's not the point.

This is one of the best recorded vocal sample library I have come across. Outstanding masterfully recorded vocal samples that can be used right out of the box or used to make your own sample instruments. It is the next best thing if you do not have the means of having your own performing artist in the studio. check out my track with some of her unaltered samples on soundcloud

compliments and thanks to Veela and the production team.

I've been working on a piece that I really want to have a siren (think Shostakovich Symphony 2, 3rd Movement) and I just can't find one. Does anyone know how I could get a siren sound or instrument and use it in a score?

If you have access to a real siren you could try making your own soundfont. Make a recording and then use tools such as Polyphone to make the soundfont. You might also be able to use the same approach using sound samples which are already available - for example in public domain sound archives. The BBC in the UK has such an archive - you could try looking there.

I thought I'd try an experiment, and produced the attached musescore file - using standard (ish) instruments.

If you use the articulation for a bend - which appears as full in this sample score - horn bars 7 and 9 onwards - you might get the effect you want. To modify or edit the bend you need to select the note with the bend articulation, and use the Inspector to get the pitch varying effect. You probably need to have quite long notes, and if you want a wider pitch range you might have to link several notes together. The effect shown starts on a note, and then goes up then down. If you want it to go down then up you'll probably have to start on a higher note.

Here is a video showing how to make a siren sound within Logic _pE

The principles are pretty much the same for other DAW/synth combinations, so you could use Reaper or Lmms with a suitable software synth.

This siren whistle sound is often used as a comical cartoon sound effect where something is sent flying through the air. The acme siren is a chrome plated whistle that is often found in the percussion section of orchestras.

I purchased a few aeotec doorbells, then used a TTS website to create voice files to load to them. I don't remember what site I used, but a google search for text to speech converter should provide you with something. You may need to try a few to find a voice that sounds natural to you.

For those complaining about the quality of the TTS audio, try the Amy voice. I think is the most natural sounding voice. It's got a british accent. I used Ivona Voice with Amy on an Android tablet connected to the whole house audio system before Amazon bought Ivona. It does suck that it's no longer local and requires an internet connection now. I still have the old software and voice files though and got it working on a Raspberry Pi running a version of Android.

Another option is the Zooz S2 siren allows for locally stored wav files on the device itself, then you call that specific file. You must use a computer to transfer the wav files to the device via USB.

The S2 doubles as a siren for HSM, if you have/want that need. It has temp & humidity sensors as well. Running off C Batteries, I have announcements regularly and the battery is reporting 95% after 9 months. YMMV.

Can you please help me figure this out? I have LANnoucer on an old android phone, and I have this driver loaded in a virtual device in HE. To test it, it has a place at the top to make it send a beep or siren or text ect to the phone. I can get it to send the beep and siren when I click on them, but that is all. I have not been able to get a text or notification to go through. The logs show the beep and siren test, but when I type things in the text tests boxes nothing appears in the log. The phone appears to have TTS activated and working. Maybe I am inputting it wrong or something?? Any ideas are appreciated.

A siren is a loud noise-making device. Civil defense sirens are mounted in fixed locations and used to warn of natural disasters or attacks. Sirens are used on emergency service vehicles such as ambulances, police cars, and fire engines. There are two general types: mechanical and electronic.

Many fire sirens (used for summoning volunteer firefighters) serve double duty as tornado or civil defense sirens, alerting an entire community of impending danger. Most fire sirens are either mounted on the roof of a fire station or on a pole next to the fire station. Fire sirens can also be mounted on or near government buildings, on tall structures such as water towers, as well as in systems where several sirens are distributed around a town for better sound coverage. Most fire sirens are single tone and mechanically driven by electric motors with a rotor attached to the shaft. Some newer sirens are electronically driven speakers.

Fire sirens are often called fire whistles, fire alarms, or fire horns. Although there is no standard signaling of fire sirens, some utilize codes to inform firefighters of the location of the fire. Civil defense sirens also used as fire sirens often can produce an alternating "hi-lo" signal (similar to emergency vehicles in many European countries) as the fire signal, or attack (slow wail), typically 3x, as to not confuse the public with the standard civil defense signals of alert (steady tone) and fast wail (fast wavering tone). Fire sirens are often tested once a day at noon and are also called noon sirens or noon whistles. 006ab0faaa
