Packing for a flight is much easier when you know the rules in advance. Understanding Singapore Airlines Baggage Size limits helps you avoid repacking at the airport, unexpected fees, and last-minute stress. This guide covers the cabin bag size, weight limits, personal item allowance, and simple tips to help you travel with confidence.
Why Singapore Airlines Baggage Size Matters
Every cabin bag must fit safely in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front of you. Even if your bag appears to fit, exceeding the permitted weight or dimensions may mean it must be checked in. Knowing the limits before you pack saves time and keeps your journey smooth.
Cabin Baggage Size and Weight Limits
Singapore Airlines allows cabin baggage according to your travel class. The standard weight limit is 7 kg per bag, and the maximum size is 115 cm in total dimensions. To calculate this, add the length, width, and height of your bag together.
Suites and First Class: 2 cabin bags, each up to 7 kg and 115 cm in total dimensions
Business Class: 2 cabin bags, each up to 7 kg and 115 cm in total dimensions
Premium Economy Class: 1 cabin bag, up to 7 kg and 115 cm in total dimensions
Economy Class: 1 cabin bag, up to 7 kg and 115 cm in total dimensions
Each bag must meet both the weight and size requirements. A bag that is light but too large, or small but too heavy, may still be refused as cabin baggage.
In addition to your main cabin bag, you can bring one small personal item, such as a handbag, laptop bag, or document bag. It can measure up to 40 x 30 x 10 cm and must fit under the seat in front of you. Keep the items you need during the flight in this bag, such as:
Passport and travel documents
Phone, wallet, and boarding pass
Headphones
Prescription medication
How to Measure Your Bag Correctly
Many travelers measure only the main body of the suitcase, which can lead to problems at the airport. For an accurate result, follow these steps:
Measure the length, width, and height of your bag.
Include wheels, handles, and outside pockets.
Add the three numbers together and confirm the total is no more than 115 cm.
Weigh the bag on a digital scale and confirm it is no more than 7 kg.
Additional Items Allowed on Board
Certain extra items are allowed free of charge, subject to restrictions:
Ladies' handbag
Camera or camera bag
Document bag
Overcoat and umbrella
Laptop or notebook in a bag
Infant food and amenities needed during the flight
Walking sticks, crutches, or necessary prosthetic devices
Rules for Liquids, Aerosols, and Gels
If you carry toiletries or drinks in your cabin bag, follow these rules:
Each container must hold no more than 100 ml.
All containers must fit inside one clear, resealable plastic bag of up to one liter.
Larger containers may be refused, even when only partly filled.
Pack liquids where you can reach them quickly at the security checkpoint.
What Happens if Your Bag Is Too Large or Heavy
Your standard cabin allowance is included in your ticket as long as your bag meets the size and weight limits. If it exceeds them, airline staff may ask you to check it into the hold. The bag will then count toward your checked baggage allowance, and extra charges may apply if you go over that allowance.
Choose a lightweight suitcase to save weight.
Use packing cubes to keep clothing compact and organized.
Place heavier items near the wheels for better balance.
Wear bulky clothing and shoes on the plane.
Avoid overstuffing, because a bulging bag may exceed the size limit.
Keep valuables, medication, and documents in your cabin bag.
Remember the key Singapore Airlines Baggage Size limits: up to 7 kg per cabin bag, 115 cm in total dimensions, two cabin bags for Suites, First Class, and Business Class, and a personal item of up to 40 x 30 x 10 cm.
