UdTechnovations ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Simple Expense Tracker mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our App.
## Information Collection and Use
### Data Storage
Simple Expense Tracker stores all your data **locally on your device only**. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal information on our servers.
### Data We Access
1. **SMS Messages** (Enabled by Default, Optional)
- **Purpose:** To automatically detect and record transactions from banking SMS alerts
- **Permission Required:** READ_SMS, RECEIVE_SMS
- **How It's Used:** SMS auto-detection is enabled by default for your convenience. The app scans incoming SMS messages for transaction patterns (amount, merchant, account number) and creates expense/income entries
- **Storage:** All SMS data is processed and stored only on your device
- **Control:** You can disable SMS auto-detection at any time in Settings → SMS Auto-detect
2. **Storage Access** (No Permissions Required)
- **Purpose:** To create and restore backup files
- **Permission Required:** None - uses native Android file picker
- **How It's Used:** Backups are automatically saved to your Downloads folder. You can restore backups by selecting the file from any location on your device
- **Storage:** Backup files are saved to Downloads folder and remain on your device. You can move them to cloud storage (Google Drive, etc.) if desired
3. **Notifications**
- **Purpose:** To send reminders and notifications about expenses
- **Permission Required:** POST_NOTIFICATIONS
- **How It's Used:** Local notifications only, no data sent to external servers
## Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do NOT collect any personal information beyond what AdMob collects for ads
- We do NOT transmit your financial data to any servers
- We do NOT sell your data to third parties
- We do NOT use analytics or tracking tools (except Google AdMob for ads)
- Your transaction data stays on your device
## Your Data, Your Control
- **Complete Ownership:** All your transaction data, categories, SMS rules, and settings belong to you and remain on your device
- **First-Time Experience:** An optional onboarding tour explains key features when you first use the app
- **Backup Control:** Backups are saved to your Downloads folder. You control when to create them and can move them to any location
- **Data Deletion:** Uninstalling the app removes all data (except backup files you've saved)
- **No Account Required:** The app works completely offline, no login or account needed
## Data Security
- All data is stored locally using secure Android storage APIs
- Optional backup encryption with password protection
- No network transmission of your financial data
- SMS permissions are only used when you explicitly enable the feature
## Third-Party Services
### Advertising
This app displays advertisements provided by **Google AdMob**, a Google advertising service.
- **Purpose:** To support free app development and maintenance
- **Ad Type:** App Open Ads (shown on app launch, maximum once every 4 hours)
- **Frequency:** Limited to prevent disruption - 4-hour cooldown between ads
- **Data Collected by AdMob:** Device identifiers, IP address, app interactions (managed by Google)
- **Your Control:** Ads are minimal and non-intrusive. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device's Google settings

Our app does not target or knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age.
