Simon Schürz

I will be on the job market in the 2019/20 academic year and available for interviews at the 2019 EEA European Job Market in Rotterdam.

I am a development and applied micro economist. My research is focused on economic and inter-generational decision-making within the family, household and the close social environment. In my dissertation, I study family decisions on educational investments to children in a low-income context, bequest choices at old age and their meaning for public policy as well as the distribution of social preferences in adolescent peer networks. More generally, I am interested in the role of preferences, decision powers and information asymmetries in determining economics outcomes within the family and household.
