SELECTED VIDEOS 2010 - 2021

ALLNESS POINT

Video for Allness Point from the album Black Isle Songs, inspired by the landscape of the east coast of Scotland and due out February 2021 via Bandcamp.

CATALYST

Video for Catalyst from the album Mythologies due out August 2020 on Taro Records.

Video from from my album Cargo Cult Science. These are the first recordings to make extensive use of my MS20 Mini and Korg Minilogue for a very deliberately sequencer driven album. The lovely little hi-hat flourishes are by drummer Simon Cunningham.

This track was a late inclusion - I had to drop another track which didn't really fit in with the flow and was causing the album to sag a little in the middle so I came up with a full tilt dancefloor workout.

One of the more spatial album tracks built around improvised melancholy piano chords all done in one take. I was made up when the brilliant Object Blue opened with the still unfinished version I sent her on her NTS show,

Video by Kim Balouch who always comes up with the goods - this uses footage from the 1962 film Carnival of Souls. The gorgeous Moog sounds in this track are by Field Lines Cartographer and rounded off by suitably ethereal vocals from Bulgarian musician Anna Bo.

This a short clip from possibly my favourite solo gig in the Plex room at PCM#2 at Corsica Studios, London in 2012. The fact my gear was set up on stage next to Ancient Methods and Regis's meant I felt like I was living the dream, for one night ;-) It was also Corsica Studios 10th birthday party - many fantastic memories. I also had Jez Stevens doing wonderful live visuals for me. We covered the whole front of the stage with a semi-transparent net projection screen - it looked phenomenal.

A track from my Fear Smoke and Murder EP for Low Noise Productions "hard hitting, heavy industrial techno"...it says here.

A track from All That is Solid Melts Into Air inspired by the Soviet writer Anna Akhmatova. The voice is John Berger reading one of her poems. This video was also made by Kim Balouch who always manages to give a unique interpretation of the music.

Another track from my All That is Solid Melts Into Air album. This one is inspired by choreographer Merce Cunningham. The Third Programme was the forerunner of BBC Radio 3 and track is built round a loop of Shostakovich with a clip from Cunningham interview.

This was a piece written for a 1000 Plateaus AV event. It was a psycho-geographical collaboration with two photographers, Jon Neil and Steve Daley who I asked to photograph an area in the north of Portsmouth called the Railway Triangle. I produced the video based on their work.

Excerpt from my set for Colony at Corsica Studios, London. Fantastic gig and graet to play with Truss and one of my heroes Oliver Ho (nicest man in techno). Really pleased to see the Colony guys returning to putting nights on in 2020 with their Miscwerk project.

This is the best track from EP for Low Noise Productions. Inspired by going to see the play Oppenheimer at the RSC. The only full on techno heater I've done that I'm been 100% happy with.

Cries To The Sky was the first of my ballet/contemporary dance influence pieces inspired by trips to seeing the Royal Ballet, particularly Wayne McGregor works.

Fredericksburg is a track from the album Permanent Way. The track was built around a sample from a rather scratched "Manuel and Music of the Mountains" album track. Most of the video footage was filmed on a glorious hot summer day in the gardens around my sister's house in Cornwall.

Arx Luminis was written for a one off live performance for the electronic music room at Southsea Fest. A few of the audience turned up expecting to hear me play club bangers. They went away disappointed.

Track from the Cornerstones EP originally part of a live set at a Visionclash event at the Edge of the Wedge in Portsmouth. Had lots of great feedback for this track.

This is a track from the Secret Self album I did for Wolftrap. The percussion loop is from an old Bluetrain dub track to which I added live bass, sequences and drum machine. The title I used for my show on Fnoob radio. Secret Self I re-used for my show on Seance Radio - always recycle! ;-)
