I will take up a position at King's College London (KCL) in October 2025.
My Oxford mailbox will soon be deactivated; for any work-related communications, you may already get in touch at silvia.butti@kcl.ac.uk .
I am a mathematician working in theoretical computer science. Currently, I am a Senior Research Associate at the University of Oxford, working with Standa Živný on theoretical aspects of the (promise) constraint satisfaction problem within the UKRI - ERC Guarantee grant NAASP. Concurrently, I hold a Junior Research Fellowship at Lady Margaret Hall.
I obtained my PhD from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, ES) under the supervision of Victor Dalmau within the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning research group. Previously, I obtained an MSc in Mathematics and Foundations of Computer Science (MFoCS) from the University of Oxford (2018) and a BSc in Mathematics from University College London (2017).
When I'm not doing maths, you can probably find me dancing salsa, playing beach volleyball, or hiking. My Erdős Number is 3.

I have collaborated with a number of excellent outreach initiatives, including:
I am currently funded by the UKRI (formerly ERC) grant "New Approaches to Approximability of Satisfiable Problems" (NAASP).
My PhD was jointly supported by the INPhINIT fellowship programme of “la Caixa” foundation, and by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) COFUND.
