SilentDose ("the app", "we", "us") is a medication & appointment reminder app developed by Ozotea. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles and how it is stored.
The short version: SilentDose is built to be private and offline-first. All of your data stays on your device. We do not have user accounts, we do not run a server, we do not sync your data to any cloud, and we do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking. We cannot see your data.
1. INFORMATION YOU ENTER INTO THE APP
You may enter the following information, all of which is stored only on your device:
- Profiles (you and family members): name, relation, date of birth, gender, blood group, height, weight, medical conditions, and an optional profile photo.
- Medicines: name, type, dosage, schedule/frequency, reminder times, stock count, notes, and an optional medicine photo.
- Reminders / dose history: scheduled dose times and whether each dose was taken, missed, or skipped.
- Appointments: doctor name, specialty, clinic, date/time, an optional clinic location (address and map coordinates), and notes.
- Health logs: values you record (for example pulse), with units and notes.
- App notifications: locally generated reminders such as missed-dose and low-stock alerts.
Providing this information is optional and entirely under your control. The app works without internet access.
2. WHERE YOUR DATA IS STORED
All of the information above is stored locally on your device using:
- a private on-device database (Android Room / SQLite) that other apps cannot read;
- local app preferences (Android DataStore); and
- private app folders for photos you add.
No data is transmitted to us or to any third-party server, and there is no cloud
backup or account-based sync.
3. WHAT WE DO NOT DO
- We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal or health data.
- We do not have accounts, logins, or user profiles on any server.
- We do not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- We do not access your contacts, microphone, or files beyond what you
explicitly select.
4. INTERNET ACCESS AND THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The app can function fully offline. Internet access is used for one optional
feature only: the clinic/hospital location picker when you add or edit an
appointment. If you choose to search for a location or view it on the map, the
app contacts:
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim (https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org) - to turn an
address you type into map coordinates, or to look up the address for a point
you select on the map. The app sends only the search text or the coordinates
you choose, together with a standard app identifier (User-Agent). It does not
send your name, your medicines, or any other personal data.
- OpenStreetMap map tiles - to display the map. Standard map tile requests are
made and cached on your device.
These requests are governed by the OpenStreetMap Foundation's policies:

Separately, if you tap "Get directions" for an appointment, the app may open the
Google Maps app (or your browser) with the destination address. Once you leave
SilentDose, the destination is handled by that app under Google's Privacy Policy
(https://policies.google.com/privacy). SilentDose itself does not send your data
to Google.
We are not affiliated with OpenStreetMap or Google; these are independent
services.
5. CAMERA AND PRESCRIPTION SCANNING
If you choose to add a medicine or profile photo, the app uses your device
camera. If you use the optional "scan" feature, text recognition is performed
entirely on your device (Google ML Kit on-device text recognition) to help fill
in a medicine name. No images or scanned text are uploaded anywhere. Photos you
add are saved only in the app's private storage on your device.
6. PERMISSIONS WE REQUEST AND WHY
- Notifications, exact alarms, full-screen intent, vibrate, wake lock,
foreground service, run-on-boot: to deliver your medication and appointment
reminders reliably and to restore them after a restart.
- Camera (optional): only when you choose to take a medicine or profile photo
or scan a prescription.
- Location (optional): only when you tap "use my location" in the appointment
location picker, to center the map. This is a one-time read of your last
known location; the app does not track your location in the background.
- Biometric / device credential (optional): only if you enable App Lock, to
unlock the app. Biometric data never leaves your device and is handled by
Android.
- Internet / network state: for the optional location picker described in
Section 4.
You can decline any optional permission and still use the core features of the
app.
7. BACKUPS AND EXPORT
SilentDose keeps a local backup file on your device and lets you export a backup
to your device's Downloads folder, and import a backup file you select. These
are ordinary files on your device. Backups are never uploaded. If you share or
move an exported backup file yourself, that file is then under your control.
8. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You can:
- delete individual medicines, appointments, profiles, or logs within the app;
and
- remove all app data by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in
Android settings.
Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side.
9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
SilentDose is a health-management tool intended for use by adults, who may also manage medication for family members (including children) at their own discretion. The app does not knowingly collect data from children for any purpose, and no data is transmitted off the device.
10. SECURITY
Your data is stored in the app's private, sandboxed storage, which is not accessible to other apps. You can add an extra layer of protection by enabling the optional App Lock (biometric / device PIN) in Settings. Please also protect your device with a screen lock, since anyone with access to an unlocked device on which the app is installed could view the data within it.
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
