At the Sikshalaya Team ("we," "our," or "us"), we are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users. This Privacy Policy describes how the Sikshalaya mobile application (the "App") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information.
Sikshalaya is a comprehensive educational Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application designed for school administrators, teachers, students, and parents. The App facilitates student roster management, attendance tracking, academic grading/marks recording, school notifications, performance insights, and real-time parent-teacher communication.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
To provide a secure and functional experience today, and support upcoming features, the App accesses and processes the following types of information:
User Accounts: We collect login credentials (username/email, password, or security verification OTPs) to verify your identity and manage role-based access control (e.g., Administrator, Teacher, Parent, Student).
Profile Information: User details supplied by your school administration or entered during profile setup, including name, contact details, profile photo, and school department.
Student Roster & Profiles: Student names, identification numbers, and class enrollments.
Attendance Logs: Student attendance records submitted by teachers.
Marks and Grades: Student performance scores, test results, and grade books.
Notifications & Announcements: School bulletins, notice boards, and internal communication messages.
Push Notification Tokens: We collect device registration tokens to deliver real-time notifications, chat alerts, and urgent school announcements.
Files and Camera Access: The App may request access to your device's camera or storage to allow teachers and parents to take/upload photos and documents (such as assignment uploads, profile pictures, or school circulars).
Secure Cache & Local Storage: The App uses secure local storage and an encrypted database (SQLCipher) to keep session tokens and educational logs safely cached on your device for offline support.
We use the collected data strictly for educational, administrative, and communication purposes:
To authenticate users and protect sensitive educational records from unauthorized access.
To record, manage, and report student progress, attendance, and academic grades.
To facilitate instant notification and text communication between teachers, parents, and administrators.
To send real-time alerts, homework updates, and general school notifications.
To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the reliability of the Sikshalaya system.
We respect your privacy and do not sell, trade, rent, or distribute your data (or your children's/students' data) to third-party advertising or marketing services. Data is only exchanged between the App on your mobile device and the official secure Sikshalaya cloud servers.
We will only disclose information to comply with legal obligations, court orders, or regulations if required by law.
We implement robust security measures to protect your educational records:
Transmission Security: All data sent between the App and our servers is encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) protocols.
Device Storage Security: Offline cache, authorization tokens, and credentials are saved locally using device-level secure storage and a strongly encrypted SQLite database (SQLCipher).
Access Restraints: Only authenticated users linked directly to an active school registered in the Sikshalaya system have access to relevant school data.
Sikshalaya is an educational school-ERP application.
Student records visible in the App are managed directly by school administrators and authorized teachers for academic purposes.
We strictly adhere to educational data protection guidelines, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Your data is stored for as long as your school is actively registered on the Sikshalaya platform.
Account Deletion: If you wish to delete your account or request that your personal/student data be deleted, please contact your school administrator or reach out to us directly at [sisirsamir49@hotmail.com].
Logging out of the App immediately clears any active session keys and local cache files from the device's storage.
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features and updates. We will notify you of any changes by publishing the updated policy on this page and changing the "Effective Date" at the top.
