Sigurd S. Arntzen

PhD Candidate in Economics

I am a PhD Candidate in Economics at the BI Norwegian Business School. You can find my  CV  here.

My research focuses on political selection and applied microeconometrics. My main supervisor is Jon H. Fiva, and my co-supervisor is Henrik Sigstad.

I received my MPhil at the University of Oslo in 2021. In my master's thesis, I used a regression discontinuity (RD) design to study the effect of increased municipal budgets on the asset accumulation of Brazilian mayors.

Outside of research, I am into bouldering, football, skateboarding, and surfing. Latin music is my jam, and I'm quite a salsa dancer. Héctor Lavoe, Willie Colón, and Bad Bunny top my list of favorite artists. Additionally, I'm a die-hard fan of the local football team from the East of Oslo, Vålerenga.
