Starting with the new V14 software version, Siemens offers CPU integrated OPC-UA for a reasonable price (reasonable for Siemens pricing ). Maybe this is an option if you don't want to buy a seperate server.

One of the server modules on my PLC racks suddenly came up with a message stating that the station had stopped, with the server module missing. I can quite plainly see the server module; it's physically present. I've also switched it for another one but that didn't seem to do anything either.

Im trying to connect my Logo! V8.3 BM to the cloud following this video and this tutorial.

In the 'cloud connection settings' the Thing is successfully registered. But when I test the connection. I get an error saying 'DNS server in not accessible. Check the LOGO! BM gateway to ensure that the logo! BM is connected to the internet'.

I can download the programs to the LOGO! through Ethernet so they should be least on the same subnet. Do I need to configure the router in any way to make the LOGO! connect to the cloud?

Thanks in advance!

When i go to Diagnosics > cloud > test connection on the Logo BM itself I get different errors depending on if the program is running. When the program is running i get the error " Test connection Error 81: Unable to connect to DNS server". and when the program is not running I get the error "Test connection Error e0: Unable to establish TCP connecting to Cloud server"

I am having trouble getting the IOserver to communicate with a Siemens S7-1200. I have the S73&400 IOserver setup with ISOTCP,192.168.1.40,03.01. When i setup a tag for status, it stays at 0. I have tried setting up other tags and nothing ever works. Can someone please help. Here is a backup of the flexy and a tag list from the PLC. I want to get the scaled values of the analog signals (FT and LT) and the alarm tags.MOVED TO STAFF NOTE (218 KB) Lebovic Wastewater PLC Tags.pdf (148.1 KB)

Perpetual License to use the server and drivers in this suite on a single computer with no artificial limits on number of devices, tags, or connected client applications. Includes 1 yr support & maintenance agreement.

We first developed the project in Labview 2012, and now when it is time for a review and bug fix we realize that our code base is now LV2015. Means we need to upgrade also the NI OPC server and NI DSC Runtime. Since we did not pay for any SSP it means we have to pay for the whole OPC + DSC runtime again. For each client system.

The URL string depends on the OPC server. The trick is to read the item as a variant, then get the OPC Quality as a variant attribute. At last you need to convert the variant to the proper data type; a memory block would be converted to a LabVIEW cluster.

And you are definately right, for the current program release I will go for the "save as LV2012" option. Or try to only deploy the shared library with the OPC-server in LV2012, seems rest of the code can be LV2015.

pincpanter, tried your example with NI OPC server, but did not know how to construct a proper opc-URL. In NI-OPC-QC (quick client) one example variable looks like. Tried to use these data with your url structure (and with backslash and dots instead of slash). Can you explain how do this?

at startup it was even worse with all the tags suddenly turning inaccessible by kepserverex (we had to stop, restart kepserverex): we modified the plc ressource ratio dedicated to communication to 50% and the problem shrank but it still randomly appear

we suppose that the problem appears between the Plc opcua server ans kepserverex because the server is "overloaded" in some way: when we connect 2 kepserver clients (with another PC for example) to the same plc the problem worsens and the plc cycle time significantly increase with peaks increasing from 60 to 90ms

on the other hand we noticed that as long as we dont connect our own PCs equipped with their own kepserver session to the machine PC the hmi tags are all read and written properly with no big (we actually made the machine run a few hours this week with no trouble): its like an additional kepserver session overloads the plc opc ua server when it has to serve more than one client (kinda make sense)

we pointed that the default KEP quickclient caused the KEP server to overload as it immediatly load absolutely all the tags (the other clients we installed for diagnostic wait for you to populate them)

Concerning the FTview Se alarm server we recreated one from scratch, tested it with 10 alarms, exported them to an excel file, populated the file and re-imported it with the 1024 pre-existing alarms. And it worked ! (I smell some bullshit version difference incompatibility between the initial project creation Studio and the Runtime version)

All experts!

I need a solution or suggestion for Siemens (Desigo CC) server. I am in the final stage where I will be in a server-free environment in my network if I can move this Siemens server online (cloud). This server communicates to all AC/Heating controllers in the buildings and it has to be Windows 2019 with SQL express installed and need to communicate to our local network where the controllers (IP based) are installed. Any provider suggestions?

To use the siemens software with a license server, the FlexNet license server needs to be installed. There are two methods for installing the license server, either through the Siemens installer for the desired software or as a unique executable.

I found this thing NIB in the back of a closet doing some Spring cleaning. It's the same unit as reviewed HERE except it has no hard drives installed, it is just the server. It is essentially this Intel unit with different software and no hard drives. Now this thing is 15 years old in design so I know as is it has limited use but the build quality on this thing is awesome, the case is beautiful and the the way the hard drives go in is really cool too so I would like to make this thing usable if possible and you guys are the most knowledgeable bunch of enthusiasts I know so I need some advice.

I have a Siemens S7-1200 PLC that I am accessing via HTTP and the built-in webserver in the PLC. The PLC has been set up with a very simple web page that has two tags on it inside a "HTML FORM" so that the page can be loaded and new values for the tags written to the PLC. This has been tested from a browser and works well.

Then I have a Java application which connects to the PLC two to three times each hour, loads the page with a GET request, writes a new value into either tag-field (a value of 1) and then POSTs the page back to the webserver. This also works well.

Hence, before the page with the tag-fields can be loaded, the HTTP client must log in with a user/pass via another page in the PLC webserver. The Java application actually does this and then gets the "tag page", updates a tag and posts the page.

Hello Thoman,

You may need to reach Seimens first and ask for their recommended AV exclusion for the said server. Once you got the list you can share it with us as well so we can further validate that exclusion.

If either of these errors occur, go back and check the server information as mentioned above in Step 1. If the error is a result of incorrect hostname in the license file, edit the hostname in the license file and restart the license service.

IT/OT integration is one of the current trends in the industrial environment with the Industry 4.0 revolution. As a result, PLCs are also becoming more intelligent and have more sophisticated functions inbuilt into them. Webserver is a tool by Siemens in TIA Portal to remotely access your PLC and automation systems via a dedicated webpage in a browser. Functions include data logging, modification of tags, and changing the operating state of the PLC. This tutorial will provide an in-depth walkthrough of the Web Server using the S7-1500 PLC.

The web server feature's ability to enable remote access to users' automation systems may be its most apparent benefit. This can be very helpful in various situations, such as when a user needs to update a system while working from home or when they need to monitor its status while they are away from the plant. 2351a5e196
