We store the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:
- **Last visited URL**: To restore your browsing session when you reopen the sidebar
- **Active tab preference**: To remember which tab you were viewing (Browser, Games, Chat, etc.)
- **Chat username** (optional): If you choose to use the chat feature
- **Enabled games list**: Your preference for which educational games are enabled
- **Firebase configuration** (optional): If you configure your own Firebase database for chat
### 2. Optional Chat Messages
If you choose to use the cloud chat feature:
- **Chat messages**: Stored in your own Firebase Realtime Database that you configure
- **Username**: Displayed with your messages in chat rooms
- **Online presence**: Shows when you're active in a chat room
**Important:** Chat functionality requires you to provide your own Firebase credentials. We do not operate or have access to any Firebase database.
### 3. Web Browsing Data
- **URLs you visit**: When using the sidebar browser, URLs are processed locally to load websites in the iframe
- **Browser history**: Limited to the last URL visited, stored locally for session restoration
## How We Use Your Data
### Local Use Only
All data is stored locally on your device and is used solely to:
- Maintain your browsing session and preferences
- Enable the chat feature with your own Firebase database
- Remember your enabled educational games
- Provide a seamless user experience
### No External Transmission
We do NOT:
- Send any data to our servers (we don't have any servers)
- Collect analytics or tracking data
- Share your data with third parties
- Sell your information
- Use your data for advertising
- Monitor your browsing activity outside of the extension
## Third-Party Services
### Firebase (Optional)
If you choose to use the chat feature, you must configure your own Firebase Realtime Database:
- You control the Firebase project and all data stored in it
- Messages are transmitted directly between users through YOUR Firebase instance
- We do not have access to your Firebase data
- Refer to Firebase's privacy policy for how Google handles Firebase data
### Embedded Websites
When you browse websites in the sidebar:
- Websites load directly in an iframe on your device
- Those websites may have their own privacy policies and data collection practices
- We do not intercept, monitor, or collect data from those websites
- We only modify HTTP headers to allow iframe embedding
## Content Scripts
### Educational Games (LOL & Awakening)
Our content scripts only inject on:
- legendsoflearning.com
- playawakening.com
- awakening.com
- awakening.games
These scripts:
- Add custom educational game cards to the platform
- Do not collect or transmit any data
- Only activate when you enable games in the extension settings
- Use the platforms' existing question APIs when available
## Your Rights
You have the right to:
- **Access your data**: All data is stored locally in Chrome storage
- **Delete your data**: Clear extension data through Chrome's extension settings or by uninstalling
- **Opt-out**: Simply don't use features you're uncomfortable with (e.g., chat)
- **Control**: Enable/disable specific features at any time
## Data Retention
- **Local data**: Retained until you clear it or uninstall the extension
- **Chat messages**: Stored in your Firebase database according to your retention settings
- **No server-side data**: We don't store any data on our end
## Children's Privacy
This extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The educational games feature is designed for students but does not collect or transmit personal information. If you're a parent and believe your child has provided personal information through the chat feature, please have them clear the extension's storage.
