Chartered last May 23, 2022, and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ortigas Center, the Rotaract Club of Ortigas Center jumpstarted its journey by getting to know each other through a Two-Day Rotaract Orientation held last June 12 and 19, 2022 at McDonald’s Kapitolyo in Pasig City.
It was a fun-filled day one for 26 Rotaractors as they meet their fellows, learned about the foundational knowledge of Rotaract, and was introduced to the Rotary International District 3800 by none other than the District Rotaract Representative Christine Nicolas. They also bonded over two interactive and collaborative games: Human Bingo and Paint Me A Picture. Moreover, Rotaractor Ching Soberano showcased his remarkable talent in rapping by performing his original song about OFWs and struggling amidst the pandemic. Truly, Rotaractors are capable of great things!
The second day was just as worthwhile with PDRR Aly Francisco sharing her insights on the importance of joining a Rotaract Club and being a Rotaractor. Rotaractors’ imagination and creativity were also tested as they played charades on random and Rotary-related facts. Rotaractor Darwin San Miguel showcased his talent through heartfelt spoken word poetry on having internet friends, to which Rotaractors related as they coped with the pandemic’s challenges.
The two-day event capped off with the appointment of its charter officers led by Club Adviser and RCOC Youth Service Director Abegail Magat. At the forefront is Imaginative Amazing Treasure President Mikaella Soriano with Rotaractor Janne Dell Apares as the Secretary and Vice President. The Board of Directors is composed of Treasurer Michelle Malazzab with Finance Director Faith Quiambao, Public Image Director Je-ann Rodrigazo with Leo Ursal as the Social Media Manager and Jciewhel Caliwag as the Documentation and Publication Manager, Community Service Director Alyzza Albay, International Service Director Keith Ramos, Club Service Director Micha Libiran, Membership Director Cheena Flores with Associate Director for Membership Karl Rey Hibay, and Professional Development Director and RCOC Past President Alvin Santiago.
The Rotaract Orientation has centered on the club’s commitment to both fellowship and service. This momentous event marked the beginning of endless possibilities for the Rotaract Club of Ortigas Center.
