Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics
Graduate Student Chapter at Texas A&M University
Purpose
To promote interdisciplinary collaboration among graduate students, to provide a platform where graduate students can practice and improve their presentation skills, and to facilitate interactions among graduate students and faculty both inside the Mathematics department as well as with other Science and Engineering departments.

Attend 5 meetings per academic year
Participate in 1 outreach activity per academic year

Thursday March 7th, 2024 - Bad Science Movie Night with Geology and Geosciences
We are partnering up with the Geology and Geosciences Graduate Student Council (GGGSC) to host a "bad science" movie night in Halbouty 101. All the grad students in the Math department and the Geology and Geosciences department are invited. There will be free snacks and drinks, and we'll be watching Miami Magma. Hope to see you there.
🎃 Friday October 27th, 2023 - Halloween Party with AMS 🎃
Come get spooky with us at our annual joint Halloween party with AMS. The fun starts at 6:00pm in BLOC 128.
Friday September 29th, 2023 - SIAM Seminar
Our first seminar of the semester is from 12:45-1:45pm in BLOC 302. Our speaker is Dr. Tung D. Nguyen. His talk is titled "Bifunctional enzyme action causes robustness in biochemical reaction systems".
Friday September 29th, 2023 - SIAM BBQ at Lake Bryan
Come join us for our annual BBQ event at Lake Bryan! We'll be chilling and grilling by the lake and doing other fun outdoor activities.
We'll have burgers, hotdogs, some drinks, and vegan options, but feel free to bring whatever else you would like. We'll also have some stuff to play football, soccer, or ultimate Frisbee, but you're also welcome to bring anything else you think would be fun to do.
The fun starts at 5:30pm and ends whenever. If you didn't already get our interest form via email, you can fill one out here. Please fill out the interest form by Friday September 22nd, 2023 if you want to go. Hope to see you there :).
