If you want a rugged, noise-isolating earbud system designed for active movement and deep sub-bass, choose Shure SE846; if you need an open-back, wood-cup planar headphone experience with natural vocal reproduction for stationary listening, choose SENDYAUDIO Peacock Gold Planar. These two devices occupy opposite ends of the audio spectrum, serving fundamentally different use cases that often confuse buyers looking for "the best" without realizing their needs are incompatible.
• Shure SE846: Offers four customizable sound signatures with true subwoofer bass performance in a compact, sound-isolating form factor, but requires a specific fit kit and lacks wireless capability out of the box.
• SENDYAUDIO Peacock Gold Planar: Delivers vivid, delicate mid-range vocals using large 88mm planar drivers in a luxurious wooden enclosure, yet offers no noise isolation and is strictly wired for home or studio use.
• Best For: The Shure is the pick for anyone seeking high-end audio during workouts or travel where blocking ambient noise is critical.
• Best For: The SENDYAUDIO is the choice for audiophiles who prioritize instrument separation and vocal purity while sitting comfortably in a quiet room.
The Shure SE846 PRO Gen 2 is engineered for the listener who refuses to compromise on fidelity while maintaining mobility. At its core lies a custom-engineered quad-driver system arranged in a three-way configuration. This design dedicates specific drivers to low, mid, and high frequencies, creating a sonic landscape where the lows hit with the force of a dedicated subwoofer without muddying the intricate details in the highs. For someone who trains hard or commutes through noisy environments, this separation is not just a technical spec; it is the difference between hearing the beat and feeling it.
What sets the Gen 2 model apart is the flexibility of its sound signature. You are not locked into a single factory tuning. The unit includes removable nozzle filters that allow you to swap between balanced, warm, bright, and a new extended profile. If you are listening to heavy electronic music for your workout, you can engage the filter that emphasizes deep bass focus. If you switch to jazz or classical later, you can change the filter to prioritize sparkling treble clarity. This level of customization turns the earbuds into a tool you shape to your mood rather than a device you simply accept.

However, this performance comes with specific requirements. The SE846 relies entirely on its sound-isolating design to function as intended. It blocks ambient noise physically, which is why it excels in active scenarios like running or gym sessions. To achieve this seal, the comprehensive fit kit included in the box is non-negotiable. It provides Comply foam sleeves, soft flex sleeves, triple flange sleeves, and yellow foam options in various sizes. Without the correct sleeve and proper insertion, the acoustic performance collapses. Furthermore, the cable is detachable via MMCX connectors, offering versatility for future upgrades or wireless conversion, but the unit itself remains a wired connection. If you are looking for a set-and-forget solution that works instantly without fitting adjustments, this might feel too involved. But if you demand professional-grade audio control and durability, the SE846 is built to last with a two-year limited warranty and a premium carrying case included.
In stark contrast to the portable nature of the SE846, the SENDYAUDIO Peacock Gold Planar is a stationary masterpiece crafted for the purist. Its design philosophy centers on luxury and acoustic transparency, utilizing a wood cup enclosure and massive 88mm diaphragms made from ultra-thin, high-rigidity composite material. This construction allows for high-efficiency electroacoustic energy conversion, resulting in a soundstage that feels expansive and natural. The primary strength here is the treatment of the mid-range and vocals. Where many headphones struggle to balance power with delicacy, the Peacock Gold presents the original sound with a gentle, vivid quality that makes voices and string instruments sound lifelike.
This headphone is not designed to be moved around. As an open-back design, it has no noise control features whatsoever. Sound leaks out, and external sounds leak in. This means it cannot be used effectively in a busy office, on public transit, or during a run. It demands a quiet environment to reveal its full potential. The over-ear placement and round earpiece shape are designed for comfort during long listening sessions, ensuring there is no pressure on the ears even after hours of use. The gold finish and wood materials add an aesthetic appeal that transforms the listening session into a ritual, appealing to those who view their equipment as part of their decor.
The trade-off is significant regarding connectivity and versatility. The unit features a 6.35 mm jack, meaning it requires a standard headphone amplifier or DAC with a matching output; it will not plug directly into most modern smartphones without an adapter. The impedance is 50 ohms, which suggests it may need more power than a typical phone jack can provide to drive the planar magnetic drivers fully. While the brand offers a 12-month warranty, the lack of a carrying case or remote controls indicates this is a serious piece of gear for focused listening, not a casual companion. If you are an audiophile who wants to analyze every nuance of a recording in a controlled space, this headphone delivers a depth of detail that closed-back designs often miss.

I would buy the Shure SE846 for my daily life because it bridges the gap between high-fidelity audio and real-world utility. Its ability to isolate noise and deliver powerful, customizable bass makes it the only logical choice for someone who values their music during a workout or while navigating a chaotic city. While the SENDYAUDIO Peacock Gold Planar is undeniably beautiful and sonically superior in a quiet room, its open design and lack of isolation limit it to a single room. If I had to pick one pair of headphones to carry everywhere, the SE846's versatility and robust engineering make it the clear winner for the modern, active lifestyle.
Only the Shure SE846 is suitable for exercise due to its sound-isolating, secure in-ear design. The SENDYAUDIO Peacock Gold Planar is an open-back headphone that leaks sound and offers no isolation, making it unsafe and ineffective for physical activity.
The Shure SE846 features a quad-driver system specifically tuned for true subwoofer performance, allowing for deeper, more impactful bass. The SENDYAUDIO focuses on natural mid-range and vocal reproduction, prioritizing accuracy over heavy low-end extension.
Yes, the SENDYAUDIO has an impedance of 50 ohms and uses planar magnetic drivers that typically require more power than a standard phone jack provides. The Shure SE846, with 9 ohms impedance and 114 dB sensitivity, is easier to drive directly from most sources.
The Shure SE846 comes with a 2-year limited warranty, while the SENDYAUDIO Peacock Gold Planar includes a 12-month warranty service. Both brands stand behind their build quality, though Shure offers a longer coverage period.
