I am Shubham Srivastav, a postdoctoral researcher currently working at the Astrophysics sub-department at the University of Oxford. My research area is observational time-domain astrophysics. I work on supernovae and other astrophysical transients. I am interested in faint and/or fast evolving transients and the transient landscape, demographics, volumetric rates and host galaxy environments of different supernova types. I use optical survey telescopes to detect transients, and larger aperture facilities to classify and follow up interesting sources.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing music (Indian flute) and piano (beginner). I am an avid birdwatcher and also interested in wildlife photography. I enjoy playing chess, cricket and 5-a-side football. I like to collect (that translates to hoard and thereafter barely use) vintage fountain pens.
