What to do each day so you stay prepared, improve faster, and don’t fall behind.
*This checklist MOSTLY applies to Marching Band.*
Make sure you have everything you need before you walk out the door.
Instrument
1 1/2 - 2 inch black 3-ring binder
Water
Proper shoes and clothes
Anything your section requires
Being prepared before rehearsal starts makes everything easier.
Focus on a few simple things instead of trying to do everything at once.
Pay attention to instructions the first time
Watch the conductor or drum major
Try your best, even if you’re unsure
Fix mistakes instead of ignoring them
You don’t need to be perfect, just stay engaged and keep improving.
Your section is your main support system.
Ask questions if you’re unsure
Watch upperclassmen for guidance
Match how your section plays and moves
Be someone others can rely on
The more connected you are to your section, the easier everything feels.
This is where improvement really happens.
Review what you learned that day
Practice any difficult parts slowly
Think about one thing you can improve tomorrow
Even a few minutes makes a difference.
Avoid these early so you don’t fall behind.
