2019

The Choir will be joining forces with Macclesfield Choral Society to perform “The Kingdom” by Elgar. There will be two performances:

  • Saturday 23rd March 7.30p.m. at The Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester
  • Saturday 30th March 7.30p.m. at Shrewsbury Abbey
  • "A Slice of Heaven," Saturday 29th June 7.30p.m. at St Alkmund's Church, Shrewsbury

"Amazing Day" by John Brunning and "Men and Angels" by Walford Davies with John P Bowen providing the piano accompaniment.


2018

  • Glorious Haydn. 7.30 pm, March 24th at Shrewsbury Abbey
  • Choral music for Summer Journeys:

The Voyage by Bob Chilcott, Sir Charles Villiers Stanford Songs of the Fleet, Michael Head The Ships of Arcady 7.30 pm June 30th St. Alkmund's Church Shrewsbury

  • Saturday November 4th at Theatre Severn, time tba: "The Pity of War": a new work commissioned in memory of Wilfred Owen, who died 100 years ago to the day, and composed by Bob Chilcott. To feature a consortium of choirs, including the Shrewsbury Choral Society. The first half of the Concert will feature the Bookfest Children’s Choir performing music and songs by a local composer using words by Owen and other poets. The second half of the Concert will be the new choral work – Move Him Into the Sun - for the massed adult choir. The actual piece is 30 minutes long, supplemented by 2 readings of Owen’s letters.

  • Handel's Messiah. 7.30 pm, Saturday November 24th at St. Alkmunds Church, Shrewsbury
  • "Noel". Come and join us to sing Christmas Carols on Saturday December 15th, 4 pm, at St. Alkmunds Church, Shrewsbury.
