This Privacy Policy describes how ShoSharp Point of Sale ("ShoSharp POS", "we", "our", or "the App") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our mobile application. By using ShoSharp POS, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Our Commitment: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or business data to third parties under any circumstances.
The following information is stored locally on your device only and is not transmitted to our servers:
Business & Product Data: Names, images, pricing, stock levels, and product relationships.
Sales & Transaction Data: Records, payment methods, and VAT calculations.
CRM Data: Customer names, addresses, and interaction history.
Order & Ticketing Data: Ticket numbers and status history.
App Settings: VAT configuration, currency settings, and user preferences.
We collect anonymous analytics data to improve the App. This data is secured using HMAC-SHA256 signatures:
Device Info: Anonymized UUID, model, OS version, and app version.
Usage Events: Settings changes, batched anonymized sales amounts, and feature usage (e.g., which reporting charts you use).
Ad Interactions: Events related to reward ads used to remove advertisements.
If granted, GPS coordinates are collected during sales to enable heatmaps and geographic analysis. This data is stored locally, though anonymized coordinates may be included in batched analytics sent to our servers.
The App displays third-party advertisements. Third-party ad providers may collect their own data (such as advertising IDs) to serve relevant ads according to their own privacy policies.
Local Data: Used exclusively to provide core Point of Sale functionality on your device.
Analytics Data: Used to identify bugs, understand feature adoption, and guide future development priorities.
Local: Data is stored in encrypted SQLite databases on your device.
Transmission: All analytics use HTTPS and HMAC-SHA256 cryptographic signatures to prevent tampering.
Server: Access to analytics storage is strictly controlled and authenticated.
Local Data: Persists until you manually delete it or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App deletes all local data permanently.
Analytics Data: Retained for up to 2 years for trend analysis, then aggregated or deleted.
Consent: You can manage or revoke data collection consent in the App settings.
Access/Portability: You can export your business data to Excel at any time via the App interface.
Deletion: You may request deletion of analytics data associated with your anonymous device ID by contacting us.
Google AdMob: We use AdMob to serve ads. View Google's Privacy Policy.
Authentication: Google OAuth data is stored locally; we do not store your private tokens on our servers.
ShoSharp POS is intended for business use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18.
Analytics data may be processed on servers located outside of South Africa. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for these transfers to maintain data security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be indicated by an updated "Last Updated" date, an incremented version number, and in-app notifications for material changes. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting analytics data, we will investigate promptly, secure our systems, notify affected users where personal information was compromised, and report to relevant authorities as required by law. Given the pseudonymous nature of our analytics collection (linked to a random device identifier, not your name), the risk of personal data exposure is minimal.
For users in jurisdictions with data protection regulations (EU GDPR, South African POPIA), we process data based on your consent, legitimate interest in operating the App, and contractual necessity for providing point-of-sale services.
Your Rights: Right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing, and the right to withdraw consent at any time.
Complaints: You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at enquiries@inforegulator.org.za.
