Privacy Policy for ShortLink Chrome Extension
Last updated: 22/10/2024
This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the ShortLink Chrome Extension ("the Extension"). By using the Extension, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
The Extension does not collect, store, or share any personal information from its users. The only data processed by the Extension is the URL you choose to shorten, which is directly sent to third-party shortening services for the sole purpose of generating shortened links.
When using the URL shortening functionality, the URL you provide is sent directly to third-party services (e.g., is.gd, v.gd) to generate a shortened URL. This process occurs between your browser and the selected shortening service. The Extension itself does not log, track, or store any URLs or responses from these services.
The Extension tracks the number of times you interact with its features locally on your browser using Chrome’s local storage. No analytics data or click counts are shared with external services or stored remotely. You can clear this data at any time by selecting the “Clear History” option within the Extension.
The Extension stores shortened URLs and click counts locally within your browser’s local storage. This data is only retained until you manually clear it using the Extension or until you uninstall the Extension. The Extension does not retain or access this data externally.
The Extension interacts with external URL shortening services such as is.gd and v.gd. These services may have their own privacy policies governing the use of data provided through them. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services for more information:
is.gd Privacy Policy
v.gd Privacy Policy
The Extension runs locally on your device and does not transmit personal or sensitive information to external servers. However, interactions with third-party shortening services are subject to the security practices of those services. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of data processed by these third-party services.
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted to this page, and we encourage you to review it regularly.
