If you want a dedicated audio device with extended battery life and proven swim performance, choose shokz OpenSwim Pro Open-Ear; if you need a hands-free recording solution that doubles as open-ear headphones for your sports activities, choose VibeLens MusicCam Bone Conduction.
• shokz OpenSwim Pro: Its biggest strength is the dual-mode capability allowing 9 hours of battery life and built-in MP3 storage for phone-free swimming; its trade-off is the lack of any camera or video recording features. This pick is for athletes who prioritize immersion in water sports and long-duration listening without a phone.
• VibeLens MusicCam: Its biggest strength is the integrated 1080P POV camera with 6-axis stabilization for capturing rides and runs while keeping ears open; its trade-off is a significantly shorter battery charge time of just 30 minutes and no mention of underwater audio playback modes. This pick is for content creators and cyclists who want to document their journey in real-time.
The shokz OpenSwim Pro is engineered for the serious swimmer and the athlete who refuses to compromise on audio quality when leaving the house. Its design centers on versatility through two distinct operating modes. You can stream music and podcasts via Bluetooth 5.4 when you are on land, but once you hit the pool, the device seamlessly switches to MP3 mode. This is not a gimmick; it is a functional necessity for swimmers who do not want to drag a waterproof phone into the water. With 32GB of internal storage, you can load up to 8,000 songs directly onto the headset, ensuring you have your entire playlist ready even when your phone stays dry on the deck.
For those concerned about endurance, the battery performance is genuinely impressive. In a world where many sports earbuds die after an hour of intense activity, this longevity matters. It also features a rapid charging capability where a mere ten-minute charge provides three hours of listening time. Whether you are training for a triathlon or just doing laps during a lunch break, you will rarely find yourself tethered to a wall outlet mid-workout.

This product is ideal for anyone looking for bone conduction headphones for zoom calls while maintaining safety and awareness. The open-ear design ensures you remain engaged with your surroundings, which is crucial for outdoor runners and cyclists. However, if your primary goal is to record your workout or capture cinematic footage of your ride, this device will not serve you. It is purely an audio tool, optimized for clarity, comfort, and durability in wet conditions. It fits securely under swim caps and goggles, making it a specialized tool for those who live in the water.
The VibeLens MusicCam targets a different demographic entirely: the active creator. It merges the utility of bone conduction audio with the functionality of a handheld action camera, all wrapped in a lightweight wraparound frame. The standout feature here is the ability to record 1080P point-of-view footage from your own perspective without needing a chest strap, helmet mount, or someone else to hold a camera. This is particularly useful for cyclists weaving through traffic or hikers navigating fog-draped cliffs. The inclusion of 6-axis stabilization is a critical detail, as it promises to keep frames sharp and cinematic even on shaky roads or crashing waves.
Its IP68 waterproof rating is equally robust, supporting submersion up to 20 meters. This makes it practical for deep-sea dives or heavy rainstorms, offering a level of protection that rivals traditional action cameras. The open-ear design keeps your ears uncovered, allowing you to listen to music or take calls while staying aware of traffic and people around you. It pairs easily with iOS or Android devices via Bluetooth, and the controls are accessible through both an app and physical buttons, making operation intuitive even when wearing gloves or moving quickly.
However, the trade-off lies in its power management. While the shokz model offers nearly double the playtime, the VibeLens charges in just 30 minutes. This suggests a smaller battery capacity designed for quick top-ups rather than all-day marathons. If you plan to use this for sports earbuds for zoom calls while simultaneously filming a vlog, the battery might drain faster than expected. This product is best for users who value the ability to capture their first-person view as much as they value hearing their music. It is less about pure audio fidelity and more about the holistic experience of recording your life as you move through it.

In my opinion, I would buy the shokz OpenSwim Pro Open-Ear if my priority was pure audio performance and reliability for long workouts. The ability to store thousands of songs internally and the sheer length of battery life make it a superior tool for daily training. However, if I needed to document my rides or hikes, the VibeLens MusicCam becomes the only logical choice because it solves the problem of carrying a separate camera. For best ear clip headphones for zoom calls where the user also wants to create content, the VibeLens wins on versatility. But for the average athlete who just wants to listen clearly and stay safe, the shokz remains the champion. Ultimately, I recommend the shokz for the audio purist and the VibeLens for the digital storyteller.
The shokz OpenSwim Pro supports clear conversations and has excellent call quality, but Bluetooth does not function underwater. You must switch to MP3 mode for swimming, meaning you cannot take calls while submerged unless using the internal speaker for pre-recorded audio.
Yes, the VibeLens MusicCam features open-ear bone conduction audio that allows you to hear calls while staying aware of your surroundings. However, be mindful that using the camera simultaneously may impact battery life due to the shorter charge time.
Both models carry an IP68 rating, making them sweat-resistant and waterproof. The VibeLens is rated for deeper submersion (up to 20 meters), while the shokz is rated for up to two meters deep for two hours. Both will handle heavy rain and sweat without issue.
No, the shokz OpenSwim Pro has 32GB of internal memory, allowing you to store up to 8,000 songs and use it completely independently of your phone during swims or runs. The VibeLens relies on Bluetooth pairing for both audio and camera control.
