If you want the best headband headphones for glasses wearers who need all-day comfort and safety during land-based sports, choose Shokz OpenRun Mini Bone; if you need a dedicated device for underwater audio without external music sources, choose MARLALL Bone Conduction Swimming.
• Shokz OpenRun Mini Bone: Its biggest strength is the ultra-lightweight 26g design with a shortened band specifically engineered for smaller heads and glasses frames, offering an IP67 sweat-proof rating for intense workouts. The trade-off is that it lacks internal storage for offline playback and cannot be submerged in water. This pick is for runners, cyclists, and gym-goers who prioritize fit and environmental awareness.
• MARLALL Bone Conduction Swimming: Its biggest strength is the true IPX8 waterproofing combined with built-in 32GB MP3 storage, allowing you to swim laps without carrying a phone or relying on Bluetooth underwater. The trade-off is that Bluetooth connectivity fails once you are submerged, requiring you to manage playlists via a computer before every session. This pick is for serious swimmers and water sports enthusiasts who need reliable audio below the surface.
The Shokz OpenRun Mini Bone is engineered for the person who feels their standard headphones slipping off or pressing painfully against their temples while wearing prescription eyewear. With a band that is 0.83 inches (21mm) shorter than the standard model, this device addresses the specific ergonomic challenges faced by those with smaller head circumferences or bulky frames. It utilizes a featherweight construction made from Nickel-Titanium Alloy and silicone, weighing in at just 26 grams. That minimal mass ensures the device stays put during high-intensity movements like sprinting or cycling without the distraction of constant readjustment.
For the active individual who needs to remain aware of their surroundings, this headphone delivers eighth-generation bone conduction technology. By transmitting sound through the cheekbone directly to the inner ear, it leaves the eardrums open to traffic, nature sounds, and other critical environmental cues. This open-ear approach is not just about comfort; it is a fundamental safety feature for outdoor activities where situational awareness is non-negotiable. The inclusion of a dedicated sports headband further secures the fit, ensuring that sweat does not cause slippage even during the most grueling training sessions.

You should buy this model if your primary activities take place on land and involve heavy sweating. The IP67 rating guarantees complete protection against sweat and rain, making it suitable for running in downpours or pushing through hot yoga classes. However, you should skip this product if you plan to take your music into a pool or lake. Despite its robust water resistance, it is explicitly noted as not being suitable for swimming. If your workout routine includes laps or water aerobics, this unit will fail when fully submerged, limiting its utility to dry or wet-but-not-submerged environments.
The MARLALL Bone Conduction Swimming headphone is built for a very specific purpose: delivering music while you are completely underwater. Unlike terrestrial headphones that struggle with moisture, this unit boasts an IPX8 waterproof rating, designed to resist water immersion for extended periods. This makes it the ideal companion for lap swimming, snorkeling, and surfing, where standard wireless earbuds would simply cease to function. The design features an ergonomic ear-hook shape that distributes pressure evenly, ensuring the device remains secure and comfortable even during vigorous strokes or dives.
A critical differentiator here is the built-in 32GB MP3 player. Because Bluetooth signals do not travel effectively through water, this device operates in "MP3 Mode Only" when submerged. You must transfer your playlist directly to the internal storage using a magnetic charging cable connected to a computer before heading to the pool. Once charged, it offers up to seven hours of continuous playback, which is sufficient for multiple swim sessions or long days at the beach. The lightweight 22.68g construction means you barely notice it on your head, preventing fatigue during extended use.
This product is strictly for the water athlete. If you are looking for a pair of headphones to listen to podcasts while jogging on a treadmill or commuting on a bus, this might not be your first choice due to the lack of direct Bluetooth streaming underwater. Additionally, the microphone requires careful maintenance; you must dry it thoroughly after swimming to prevent call issues, indicating that voice communication is secondary to audio playback in aquatic environments. It is the definitive solution for anyone who refuses to swim in silence but needs a device that can handle total submersion without damage.

• Best for quick recharging → Both offer similar charging speeds (1.5 hours), but Shokz provides a unique 10-minute quick charge for 1.5 hours of use.
• Best for Bluetooth connectivity → Shokz OpenRun Mini Bone supports seamless Bluetooth 5.1 streaming up to 33 feet, whereas MARLALL loses this functionality underwater.

• Best value for multi-sport athletes → Shokz OpenRun Mini Bone, as it handles running, cycling, and gym work seamlessly without needing manual file transfers.
I would choose the Shokz OpenRun Mini Bone for my daily life because it solves the specific problem of comfort for glasses wearers better than any other option I have seen. The shorter band and lighter weight make it invisible during movement, and the ability to stream wirelessly keeps me connected without the hassle of managing files. While the MARLALL is a marvel of engineering for the pool, it is too specialized for general use. For anyone who wants one pair of headphones to handle their morning run, commute, and gym session without compromising their vision or hearing safety, the Shokz is the clear winner.
The Shokz OpenRun Mini Bone is widely considered a top contender for comfort among those with glasses due to its open-ear design and reduced band size, though "hifi" implies full isolation which bone conduction inherently avoids to maintain safety.
Yes, they support Bluetooth connectivity for land use, but they are heavier and less optimized for the rapid movement of running compared to the Shokz, which features a dedicated sports headband for stability.
It is IP67 rated, meaning it is completely sweatproof and water-resistant against rain and splashes, but it is not designed to be submerged in water like the MARLALL model.
Yes, because Bluetooth does not work underwater, you must connect the device to a computer to transfer music files to its 32GB internal storage before each swim session.
