If you want an open-ear headset with dual noise-canceling microphones and a clear 8-hour music-and-call figure, choose SHOKZ AFTER Aeropex Open-Ear; if you need built-in 32GB MP3 storage and a 2-hour charge time, choose Yistao Bone Conduction Headphones. For kids, I’d compare these by the way they listen and the features they’ll actually use—not by assuming either model is specifically sized for children.
The SHOKZ keeps the ears uncovered and adds call-focused controls, while Yistao combines open-ear listening with onboard music storage and an IP68 rating. Both list 8 hours of battery life, but their charging and extra features point to different routines.
• SHOKZ AFTER Aeropex Open-Ear: Its open-ear design, dual noise-canceling microphones, and multipoint Bluetooth pairing suit listening and calls; the trade-off is that its listed IP67 rating is not intended for swimming. - SHOKZ’s strongest fit: Choose it if call handling, open-ear awareness, and connecting to iOS or Android devices matter most. - Yistao’s strongest fit: Choose it if stored audio, a shorter stated charging time, and a higher waterproof rating matter more. - For a kids headset gift for kids: Consider whether the child needs a phone connection, stored music, or a specific charging routine. Both product sheets describe these as adult models, so neither is presented as a child-sized headset.
The Aeropex is a bone-conduction headset that sends audio through the cheekbone while leaving the ears open. That design can make sense for a listener who wants music or podcasts without sealing off ambient sound. For a child listening during an activity where awareness matters, the open-ear approach may be more suitable than an earbud-style design, though it does not make listening risk-free or replace adult supervision.
SHOKZ lists up to 8 continuous hours of music or podcasts, dual noise-canceling microphones for calls, multipoint Bluetooth pairing, and a multifunction button. The button is described for everyday controls such as play, pause, skipping tracks, activating a voice assistant, and answering calls. Multipoint pairing is useful for someone who may connect the headset with more than one compatible device, while the call features make this the more communication-oriented option of the two.
Its IP67 rating is intended for sweat and waterproof protection during activities such as running and workouts, but the product information specifically says it is not suitable for swimming. A moisture detection alert is included for safe charging. The headset is listed at 26 g, which gives a concrete sense of its stated weight, but the product is described for adults rather than children. I would not assume that the fit will suit every child just because it is lightweight.
How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
Updated: 2026-10-23 · 8 min read · Independent comparison
Yistao’s X6 pairs an open-ear bone-conduction design with 32GB of MP3 storage. That built-in storage is its most distinctive practical feature: a listener can use the headset’s stored music without making Bluetooth streaming from a phone the only way to hear audio. For a child who listens to selected music or podcasts during a routine, that may be appealing, provided the adult handling setup is comfortable with the device and its controls.
Those figures give a useful comparison with the Aeropex: both list 8 hours of battery life, while Yistao states a shorter charging period. It also lists an IP68 rating for all-weather use, including sweat and rain protection. That is a stronger stated water-resistance rating than SHOKZ’s IP67, but it should not be turned into a promise of swimming use; the supplied information does not explicitly say that swimming is supported.
Yistao describes a 16 mm vibrator, SoundBeam technology, and a high-frequency amplifier intended to reduce background noise. It also lists an adaptable titanium frame, hypoallergenic silicone, and compatibility with sunglasses. Its stated weight is 0.99 oz. Those details may help a buyer assess the intended fit and listening design, but they do not establish how comfortable it will be for a particular child. The product sheet, like SHOKZ’s, gives an adult age-range description.
Who should skip it: Skip Yistao if you specifically want the listed dual noise-canceling microphones, multipoint pairing, or a dedicated multifunction button; those are features described for SHOKZ, not Yistao.
• Best for call-focused use → SHOKZ AFTER Aeropex Open-Ear. Its sheet specifically lists dual noise-canceling microphones and call controls. Yistao’s listed features do not include dedicated call microphones.
• Best for storing audio on the headset → Yistao Bone Conduction Headphones. It includes 32GB MP3 storage, a clear advantage if you do not want to rely only on Bluetooth streaming.
• Best for a shorter listed charging time → Yistao Bone Conduction Headphones. It states a 2-hour charge time; SHOKZ lists 8 hours for charging as well as 8 hours of average battery life.
• Best for the highest stated water-resistance rating → Yistao Bone Conduction Headphones. Its IP68 rating is higher than SHOKZ’s IP67. Neither sheet gives a specific assurance that the headphones are suitable for swimming.
• Best for multipoint Bluetooth pairing → SHOKZ AFTER Aeropex Open-Ear. Its product information explicitly names multipoint pairing with iOS and Android Bluetooth-ready devices.
• Best if Bluetooth 5.3 is a priority → Yistao Bone Conduction Headphones. Its sheet lists Bluetooth 5.3, while SHOKZ lists Bluetooth 5.
• Best for a stated 8-hour listening window → Tie. Both products list 8 hours. That figure alone does not separate them; consider storage, charging, calls, and water resistance instead.
• Best for a kids headset gift for kids → Choose by routine, not the age label. Both are described for adults. I’d weigh whether stored MP3 audio or phone-based calling and multipoint connections better fit the child’s supervised use.
Buying Considerations
First, decide whether the child will use a phone with the headset or benefit more from onboard audio. Yistao’s 32GB MP3 storage is a concrete reason to consider it when stored music matters. SHOKZ’s multipoint pairing and call controls are more relevant when the headset will connect to compatible devices and handle calls. These are different strengths, not interchangeable descriptions of sound quality.
Water ratings also need a careful read. Yistao lists IP68 and SHOKZ lists IP67; SHOKZ explicitly says its headset is not suitable for swimming. Yistao’s sheet discusses rain and sweat, but does not expressly establish swimming suitability. If swimming is the main requirement, I would not infer that either product is appropriate based on these details alone.
Charging is another practical difference. Both list 8 hours of battery life, but Yistao states a 2-hour charge time, while SHOKZ’s battery information lists 8 hours for charging. For a household that often remembers to charge devices at the last minute, that distinction may be important. Neither figure tells you how long a real child’s listening session will last under every condition, so treat the listed battery life as a product specification rather than a guarantee for every routine.
Finally, neither is described as a children’s model. The sheets identify both as adult products, and neither provides child-specific sizing information. A shopper looking for the best fast charging in ear earbuds for kids should also note that these are bone-conduction, open-ear headsets—not in-ear earbuds. Yistao has the shorter stated charging time, but the design category is different from what that search phrase suggests. Check the current price on Amazon if price is part of your decision, and assess fit and adult supervision separately from the feature comparison.
In my opinion, I would choose Yistao Bone Conduction Headphones for a child’s supervised listening routine if onboard MP3 storage and the shorter stated charging time are the priorities. Its IP68 rating is another useful listed distinction, though I would not treat that as proof of swimming suitability.
For a kids headset gift for kids, I’d first confirm that an adult-style open-ear fit and the intended controls make sense for the child. If calls and multipoint Bluetooth matter more than stored audio, I’d choose the SHOKZ instead.
Both models use an open-ear bone-conduction design, so they do not cover the ear canal with an earbud. Both product sheets describe the headphones for adults, however, and provide no child-specific sizing. Check fit and supervise use rather than assuming either is made for children.
Yistao lists a 2-hour charge time. SHOKZ lists 8 hours in its battery information. Both state 8 hours of battery life, so the stated charging time is the clearer difference.
SHOKZ explicitly says the Aeropex is not suitable for swimming, despite its IP67 rating.
Yistao lists 32GB of built-in MP3 storage, so it is the more direct match for stored audio. SHOKZ’s listed strengths instead include Bluetooth pairing, multipoint connections, and call controls.
