The MSDOS Shipbase II programs modified and compiled to run as native 32-bit Windows programs.
The source code was compiled using the FreeBasic compiler and required some changes to the original BASIC source code to be successfully compiled.
Otherwise there has been no change to functionality or operation. In particular the program uses exactly the same text based keyboard interface as the original.
Also note this is for Shipbase II not for the more well known Shipbase III.
Download the Shipbase II for Windows package.
Download Shipbase II for Windows
Start Shipbase II for Windows by clicking on sbase2.exe.
The program will run exactly like the original i.e. the interface is texted based keyboard entry only.
You can put the program into full screen by clicking the maximise icon at the top right of the program window.
The text will be somewhat distorted. MSDOS screens were 4:3 ratio, modern screens are typically 16:9 ratio. Fitting the former onto the latter distorts the screen.
The file Sbase2.txt describes how to use the program.
Quirk with program
Whenever you load a scenario, or create a scenario, you are taken back to the very first screen of the program not to the main menu. Your data is still there. Just press any key to get the main menu.
