Influenced by Shunga, a series of mingling sculptures known as "The Couple"

"The Couple #3: Double Helix" draws inspiration from the impossibility of intertwined postures depicted in Shunga, a genre of Japanese erotic art.

By manifesting anatomically impossible poses depicted in Shunga, this sculpture transcends the "boundaries" that separate individual humans into "relationships." Particularly emphasized are the entangled limbs commonly found in Shunga. Intertwined like knots or puzzles, the limbs of men and women become indistinguishable. This chaotic and uncertain perspective is represented within a world characterized by interconnected order, capturing the essence of all things intertwined.
