"SHOZOGA Series"

The "SHOZOGA" series draws inspiration from the collages of Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798-1861), a ukiyo-e artist of the late Edo period. Kaneko selects various elements from the drawing "Renbu," which is part of "the Couple" series, and combines them to create "SHOZOGA." Based on the idea of "imagining all the relationships surrounding a person rather than just their appearance," the artwork is expressed as a collection of "things other than myself that shape me," rather than focusing on the authority, success, or happiness of the individuals depicted.
