San'nin Kichisa

"San'nin Kichisa Kakarazashi" is a kabuki play that premiered at the Ichimuraza Theater in Edo in January of the seventh year of the Ansei era (1860). Commonly known as "San'nin Kichisa," the story depicts three thieves fatally stabbing each other in a karmic retribution over a hundred ryo of gold and a short sword.

This artwork was used as the design for the pamphlet of a modern play titled "Minato Yokohama Arakugobanka: Shin Keshou, San'nin Kichisa," which was based on "San'nin Kichisa" and premiered in 2021.
