[BAG Contents Revealed] STAYC’s 1st Full-Length Album is Releasing Soon ♡ First Interview!

The six-member girl group "STAYC," who recently celebrated their 3rd anniversary since their Japanese debut, will release their long-awaited Japan 1st Full Album on February 11th! This album features a total of 17 tracks, including their six previously released Japanese singles plus five new songs like the Japanese Ver. of their latest hit 'I WANT IT'. It’s truly a compilation that marks the completion of their first chapter. We had our first interview with STAYC, whose future activities are not to be missed ♡

Rabbit, bright, and the oldest but feels like the youngest {Mat-nae/맏내; A portmanteau of 'Mat' (eldest) and 'Maknae' (youngest), describing an eldest member who acts or looks like the youngest.}

Q. What are your personal style preferences and the fashion you’re interested in this winter?

I usually prioritize comfort when choosing clothes, so I love styling outfits with tracksuits. But I also like cute styles and street fashion, so I’m the type to try out various looks. This winter, I want to stay warm with cute puffer coats and hats that serve as the focal point of my outfit.

Q. Tell us your secret for keeping yourself "cute"!

Being born cute... just kidding (lol). I love blush, so when I do my makeup, I enjoy creating different vibes by changing where I apply it.

Q. What has made your heart flutter recently?

The tangerines I had on Jeju Island were so delicious that they made my heart flutter ♡

Q. What are your personal style preferences and the fashion you’re interested in this winter?

Recently, I’ve been interested in fashion accessories like bags, shoes, and hats that can accent an outfit. Especially in winter, it’s fun because there are so many warm and stylish items like "UGG" boots or slippers, cute socks, gloves, leg warmers, hats, and balaclavas! There are so many different types of coats too, so I find myself wanting everything from mustang coats [Mustang coat/ムスタンコート; a Korean term for a sheepskin or shearling jacket] to puffer coats. I actually just picked up a few things recently (lol).

Q. Tell us your secret for keeping yourself "cute"!

I try to stay on top of trends by visiting various pop-up stores and trying out new products. My daily routine involves studying the latest styles through social media and by observing what people are wearing on the streets. For beauty, I’d say it’s all about intense moisturizing. A daily sheet mask is a must!

Q. What has made your heart flutter recently?

To celebrate STAYC's 5th anniversary, SWITHs from all over the world opened anniversary cafes, and made photos, letters, stickers, and cakes to celebrate and support us in so many ways. It was very touching ♡

The mom.

Q. What are your personal style preferences and the fashion you’re interested in this winter?

I try not to just throw things on; I make a conscious effort to dress up. This winter, I want to pair knits with coats!

Q. Tell us your secret for keeping yourself "cute"!

I’m careful to avoid puffiness. If I wake up and feel my face is puffy, I use toner pads that lower the skin temperature to refresh it.

Q. What has made your heart flutter recently?

I recently served as a special radio DJ (personality), and since it was something I’ve always wanted to do, I was so happy!

Q. What is your role in STAYC?

Since I’m in the middle age-wise among the members, I’m the "balancer" who supports everyone.

Q. What are your personal style preferences and the fashion you’re interested in this winter?

I’m usually the type who cares about color balance. What I want to try wearing this winter are colored tights. I’m currently looking around for some good ones.

Q. Tell us your secret for keeping yourself "cute"!

Lately, to prevent my skin from getting dry, I’ve been very thorough with my basic skincare before bed. After applying hydrating cream, I layer a rich cream over it—I go to sleep with plenty of moisturizer on.

Q. What has made your heart flutter recently?

Recently, I saw the trendy "Dubai Mochi Cookie" {Dubai chaltteok kuki/두바이 찰떡 쿠키; A unique Korean dessert that reimagines the viral Dubai chocolate flavors inside a chewy, mochi-filled cookie.} on Reels and ordered them for delivery. They were so delicious and made me so happy ♪

Q. What is your role in STAYC?

The one in charge of giving STAYC energy.

Q. What are your personal style preferences and the fashion you’re interested in this winter?

Lately, I’ve been liking and wearing more understated fashion, and I’ve received compliments from people saying it suits me! This winter, I want to keep my coats, scarves, and earmuffs on heavy rotation.

Q. Tell us your secret for keeping yourself "cute"!

I think I’m cuter on the inside than the outside (lol)! I love people and I love chatting. I have big reactions, so when people talk to me, they seem to have a great time too!

Q. What has made your heart flutter recently?

I ate yellowtail sashimi for the first time along with my favorite sannakji {Sannakji/산낙지; a Korean dish consisting of live longarm octopus that has been cut into small pieces and served immediately}. It was so delicious! When eaten with ramen, it becomes 10 times tastier, which really made my heart flutter ♡

Puppy, maknae {Maknae/막내; the youngest person in a group}, and a sincere person.

Q. What is your role in STAYC?

The maknae in charge of charming low-pitched vocals.

Q. What are your personal style preferences and the fashion you’re interested in this winter?

Lately, I’ve been into street styles that also have a touch of cuteness. I’ve bought a lot of one-shoulder tops and monochrome clothes.

Q. Tell us your secret for keeping yourself "cute"!

Researching how I laugh. I think practicing laughing a lot is the secret to staying cute.

Q. What has made your heart flutter recently?

I was so happy to meet SWITHs in so many countries during our recent tour!

J: We’re bright and positive!

Seeun: We’re a team made up of members who each have their own different charms.

Sieun: All six of us have high vocal abilities, and I think our stage presence is strong too! Not only in our live performances, but we’ve also challenged various genres. Lately, we’ve been expanding our range from heart-fluttering looks to more dynamic ones, so I think there are still many hidden charms to discover.

Seeun: All the members are full of passion and love, so I think we can bring happiness to those who watch us.

Sieun: New charms come out every time you see us, so the more you know us, the more curious you'll get ♡ Please give us lots of love!

── What is the appeal of your Japan 1st Full Album 'STAY ALIVE'?

Isa: It features 17 tracks across a wide range of genres, so you can pick and listen to the song you want at any time ♪

Sumin: Because the images of the songs are so varied, you can enjoy every track with a fresh feeling.

Sieun: Since it’s our first Japanese full album, it’s packed with everything from the Japanese versions of the STAYC songs everyone has loved, to brand-new tracks. You’ll be able to enjoy everything from STAYC’s cute side to our cool and mature side. Just like the album title suggests, I want everyone to feel a "living STAYC"!

── Which of the 17 tracks would you recommend to CanCam readers?

Sumin: The new song 'MWUAH' is addictive and such a mood-lifter, so I recommend it!

Isa: Me too! The moment I heard it, I wanted to dance!

Seeun: It’s a cute and lovely song, the kind that makes you feel happy when you listen to it.

Yoon: I think SWITHs will like it too, and it’s one of my favorite songs!

J: In addition to the feminine and addictive melody, the choreography in the chorus is really wonderful, so I want you to see it!

Yoon: Please listen to it while watching the performance ♡ Also, I recommend 'Satellite' because you can hear our soulful, bittersweet vocals. It’s a song I cherish.

Sieun: It’s a song I’ve loved since the first moment I heard it too. It has a mature feel but is also addictive, so I’d be happy if everyone could feel its charm with us!

── What do you want to achieve in Japan, or what should Japanese SWITHs look out for?

Sumin: Our first Japanese full album really has nothing but great songs, and I want to do a lot more activities in Japan from now on, so please keep an eye on us. I’d love to appear on a Japanese variety show someday!

Yoon: First, I want our songs to be heard by Japanese SWITHs and many other people, and I want to appear on lots of music programs! Also, we’ve been studying Japanese really hard lately, so please look forward to our improving Japanese skills.
