Shima Dezfulian

I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences at Northwestern University, where I am advised by Prof. Andreas Wächter and Prof. Frank E. Curtis.

I received my M.Sc. degree in Applied Mathematics from Lehigh University.

My research interests lie in numerical optimization and machine learning.

My PhD research focuses on designing, analyzing, and implementing nonlinear optimization algorithms, where I have worked on the following projects:

Developing an algorithm for solving bound-constrained black-box optimization problems that makes use of prior information and/or approximate black-box function evaluations (paper link).

Designing a noise-tolerant interior-point algorithm for solving nonlinear bound-constrained optimization problems (paper link).
