Shidai ZHANG [張時岱] is PhD student in Development Studies at the Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS), the University of Cambridge. Before joining Cambridge, he obtained MPhil in Social Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and Bachelor of Social Science in Contemporary China Studies (Economics and Development) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He also has short-term learning and/or visiting experiences at the University of Sydney; LSE-Fudan Research Centre for Global Public Policy, Fudan University; and Peking University.
Shidai primarily works on the political economy of China, comparative and international political economy, with wide substantive interests in financialization & financial regulation and governance; new state capitalism and state-business relations; techno-industrial innovation & policies; and central-local inter-governmental relations. Shidai also has a side-line research agenda on Chinese society and social governance. He welcomes opportunities for research collaboration in these topics. His research has been published or accepted for publication by China Economic Review, Journal of Contemporary China, and The Journal of Asian Studies.
Shidai is also a keen activist on the human rights protection and workplace safety of clinical healthcare professionals in China.
Shidai is a native from Changsha, Hunan, China, and has lived in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Sydney and Cambridge.
