Shi Ding

Ph.D. student | Researcher

Hi there, I'm Shi Ding(Stella💫)!

I am a Ph.D. student in Digital Media at the Georgia Institute of Technology, under the guidance of Pro. Brian Magerko. I am also a member and research assistant at the Expressive Machinery Lab.

With a primary focus on human-computer interaction, my research seamlessly integrates insights and methodologies from various domains, including artificial intelligence, human-computer interfaces, cognitive science, psychology, and neuroscience. This interdisciplinary approach forms the foundation for creating novel opportunities to investigate and enhance human abilities in real-world settings.

My overarching goal is to empower individuals to lead healthier, happier, and more creative lives, fostering emotional resilience, and enhancing learning experiences. Throughout this process, I maintain a steadfast commitment to the responsible development and ethical use of socially and emotionally persuasive technology, ensuring its positive impact on society.

Before joining Georgia Tech, I graduated from Minzu University of China in Beijing. I then pursued a Master's degree in Learning Science, specializing in Learning Analytics, at Portland State University in Oregon, USA. My professional background includes leadership roles in both K12, higher education institutions and Edtech Enterprises, where I've focused on instructional improvement, educational technology integration/development and strategic planning for enhancing learning outcomes. At Georgia tech, I continue my dedication through research.
