INTRODUCTION
I’m Shi Ding (Stella), a PhD candidate at Expressive Machinery Lab at Georgia Institute of Technology, advised by Dr. Brian Magerko, my work spans intelligent tutoring systems, responsible AI, AI in education and AI literacy. Currently, as a design lead for EarSketch—an NSF-funded platform used by over 1.5 million learners—we integrated large language model as generative AI tutor to advance both human-centered and responsible AI in education.
I bridge research and real-world impact through my experience as a educator, instructional designer, and cognitive scientist. I'm excited to share some recent highlights: The research work I led "Promoting Creativity of BVI Learners in EarSketch Through Co-Design"was awarded a $1,000 grant as a winner of the CRIDC Poster Competition, and my paper, “Considering Large Language Model Integrations in Expressive CS Learning Environments for BVI Learners Through Co-Design,” was accepted at AIED 2025. An article about my research work "Rethinking AI in Learning: Inclusive Design, Responsible Impact"was featured by TSQATL Media.
