Sherlock X ("we," "us," or "the app") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Sherlock X, you agree to this policy.
## What the App Does
Sherlock X lets you submit a photo to (1) trace where it appears online and check whether it may be AI-generated or used by impostor accounts ("Find a Person"), and (2) find where an object in a photo appears across the web ("Find an Object").
## Information We Collect
**Photos you submit.** When you take or choose a photo for a search, that image is uploaded to our servers and passed to third-party search and detection providers to produce your result. We do not use your photos to train any model. The uploaded image is processed for your request and then deleted promptly after analysis. We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or contact list.
**Usage and quota data.** To enforce free-tier limits and fair-use caps, the app stores counters (such as the number of analyses used) locally on your device. This data stays on your device and is not linked to your identity.
**Purchase information.** Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from Apple but never see your payment card or full Apple ID details. See Apple's privacy policy for how Apple handles payments.
**Diagnostic information.** We may collect limited, non-identifying technical information (such as error logs and crash data) to keep the service working. This is not used to identify you.
## How We Use Information
- To perform the photo search or detection you request and return a result.
- To enforce free and subscription usage limits.
- To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the reliability of the service.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your photos for advertising.
## Third-Party Services
To produce results, your submitted image and/or derived data may be sent to third-party providers, including reverse-image search, AI-image detection, and AI-summarization services, as well as Apple for payments. These providers process the data only to perform the requested function. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of these providers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.
## Data Retention
Submitted photos are deleted promptly after your analysis is complete. Local usage counters remain on your device until you delete the app or clear its data. We retain limited diagnostic logs only as long as needed for operational purposes.
## Children's Privacy
Sherlock X is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
## Your Choices and Rights
- You can stop submitting photos at any time by not using the search features.
- You can revoke camera and photo-library permissions in your device Settings.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple App Store account settings.
- Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access or delete personal information. To make a request, contact us at the email below.
## Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect data in transit and during processing. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
## Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above, and material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
