WELCOME TO THE COMMITTEE TO ELECT ROB SHEPPARD PAGE!
"I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity I have had as an appointed member of the Dracut School Committee; from learning how our school district operates, to providing my knowledge and professional experience towards planning the Campbell School construction project. Rob Sheppard is a graduate of Dracut High School and the first of his family to attend college. He went on to achieve three college degrees in technology and engineering.
Rob is now a licensed professional engineer and wants to give back to Dracut through helping improve the education of Dracut Public Schools.
Born and raised on Long Pond in Dracut, MA; Rob is the fourth generation of his family to live in Dracut dating back to his great grandfather working on town roads. He also grew up listening to his grandmother Norma (Costello) Sheppard talk about what it was like for their family working and living near the Merrimack Woolen Mills on Beaver Brook at the corner of Lakeview Ave and Pleasant Street. His grandmother served the town of Dracut for over 32 years as a clerk with the Voting Commission at the Navy Yard Precinct.
As a Dracut parent in the Campbell School District, Rob is interested in providing his professional skills as our town navigates through the MSBA procedure for evaluating Dracut's options for a future construction project at the Campbell Elementary School. In September 2023, Rob was appointed as a representative of the School Committee to our town's Permanent Building Committee to help oversee the project. Once a feasibility study is complete, there will be a clear path for Dracut to follow. Rob's engineering & construction background is well known for producing evaluation reports that provide recommendations based on a financial impact, serviceability, and constructability.
Rob places the education and safety of Dracut students at the forefront of every decision he makes. Since his appointment, the School Committee has focused on improving the Dracut Public Schools through collaboration with the Selectmen. Rob believes that through investing in the education of our school district, our town will continue to be marketable and provide a return on investment for taxpayers and parents.
Rob believes that full transparency with the community and parents is the best policy when discussing the wellbeing of our students and their public education. Rob also believes that decision-making should be in the hands of local citizens as much as possible.
As an active member of this community, Rob has previously served as the Chair of the Community Preservation Committee, Vice Chair of the Conservation Commission, and was a proud member of the Open Space Committee.
