Linkedin is the largest professional network with members that connect the world’s professionals to lead them to success.
1. Go to the LinkedIn sign up page
2. Type your first and last name, and email address at where the text guides you to. (Remember to use your real name and don’t use emails that are associated with an office, use a personal one)
3. Create a password if needed.
4. Click join now
5. Complete any additional steps as needed
* Add a professional profile photo to help you stand out
* Add details about relevant work and education experiences
* Add relevant skills to showcase your abilities
* Write a summary to express your mission and show more about yourself (keep it to one or two paragraphs, or you can write in bullet points if you’re not comfortable with writing in paragraphs)
* Turn your about section to your story so that you can display the differences you make in your work
* Share any projects, patents and publication
* Follow relevant influencers in your industry to include context in your LinkedIn profile to demonstrate your passion in your work
Having a LinkedIn profile increases your visibility to employers and allows you to research companies and professionals to provide insight before interviews and other events. It is also important for your career growth as it provides the opportunity to expand on your professional network, find mentors, and connect with peers.
