B I O G R A P H Y
Hi! I am Shehan, a Computer Scientist and PhD student in Bioinformatics at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at University of Alabama at Birmingham. I have a background in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a Master’s from the University of Alabama (UA) and a Bachelor’s from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in Bangladesh.
My current research focuses on leveraging advanced AI and machine learning techniques to address critical challenges in healthcare, particularly in the management of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) through Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). I generally collaborate with clinical teams to develop innovative solutions for monitoring patient health and optimizing treatment protocols. With expertise in advanced AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLM), transformers, Mamba, Graph Neural Networks, and embedded systems, my research spans multiple domains, including real-time health monitoring, human-robot interaction, speech, and assistive technologies.
