Certified Pens is more than a poetry showcase.

It is an ESE (Everybody Support Everybody) Activation, a space where artists, builders, and community members come together to invest in one another in a real, tangible way.

On this stage, we make a deliberate choice:

To pay our people. To honor their work. and To circulate the dollar within our own community.

Certified Pens is where artists are compensated not because they competed, but because they are prepared.

Last year, Certified Pens brought the community together in a powerful way.

We welcomed nationally recognized poet Fanta Ballo from New York as our featured artist, and partnered with DWIN to provide trauma recovery resources for the community. It wasn’t just a show, it was a moment of connection, support, and shared purpose.

As we move forward, our goal is clear:

To create greater impact through more intentional programming, deeper partnerships, and stronger community initiatives.

For Artists

For the artist, Certified Pens represents Stage 4 in the Sharp Pens pipeline — the point where growth turns into readiness. This is where artists are not only paid for their performance, but are also prepared and positioned to be booked beyond the stage. After the show, each artist leaves with more than applause; they are supported with their own artist profile and aligned for future booking opportunities through the Sharp Pens platform.
