Yean Das

Born in Chittagong and raised all the way till my high school in a small mountain valley known as Bandarban, I was always in proximate touch of nature. Probably that's why I ended up learning about oceans, mountains, islands and in a whole, planet Earth. Rather than being a student of Marine Science, I would Like to express myself as an ocean enthusiast. During the undergraduate years, I had several opportunities of working in field projects focusing on biodiversity, coastal eco-engineering, benthic ecology etc.

I have started working on my own research interest - which is coral reef ecology and mostly jellyfish, since 2019 and I'm just loving it. Working under the supervision of Dr. Sharifuzzaman, I've learned so many aspects of jellyfish biology and till now recorded a few new scyphozoan jellyfish and a new salp species which were not previously documented from the Bangladeshi coast of Bay of Bengal.
