BIOGRAPHY.

emily, glenn, and ava were born in a quiet suburban area just outside of troy, michigan. the three siblings were always close, despite their different personalities. excitable emily, quiet glenn, and introspective ava always stuck together like glue. if any arguments were to break out between them, it would be between emily and glenn, with ava playing the role of the negotiator between the siblings. the youngest rarely engaged in confrontations, strongly preferring to talk things out and find common ground between all involved parties. because of this, emily and glenn continually referred to ava as the glue that kept them together, acting as the peacemaker between quarreling forces. the siblings first became truly separated when emily moved away to college, studying performing arts in columbus, ohio. shortly after, glenn moved out of their parents' house and into an apartment in detroit, feeling like he needed to get away from his parents and experience the life of a young college-age man on his own.

when the apocalypse was first declared a worldwide pandemic, emily was practically shut away in her college dorm. at the university in columbus where she studied, professors continued to quit their jobs and suddenly pass away, some even committing suicide in the hallways of the buildings because of stress, bites, and losing their family members to this rapidly spreading disease. classes were eventually indefinitely suspended and the administration almost entirely quit, leaving the office of public safety and health services to tend to the students. it was impossible for many of them to get home safely, emily included, so those who were effectively stranded at the university hunkered down in their dorms, a team of police officers and doctors stationed at each dorm to protect and provide for the students, who often cooked for themselves and tended to their laundry on their own.

things looked okay for a while, until a massive herd overtook the campus, many of the dorms being overrun, emily's included. almost the entirety of the safety department and medical staff team were eaten alive, leaving emily alone with two close friends and a campus police officer, the small group having no choice but to flee the campus. the group decided to head to virginia instead of going back to emily's home in michigan, since one of her friends was part of a wealthy family that had a house large enough for all of them to stay. unfortunately, the group wouldn't make it in one piece; all of them ended up being bitten, and jim, the campus cop and the last surviving member of the group besides emily, gave her a locket with a picture of him and his ex-wife and son, requesting that she find them and tell his story for him. an emotional emily had no choice but to put him down, leaving her all alone.

soon enough, she'd come across a large house in the middle of virginia, assuming this was where she was meant to head, but instead of finding solace or safety, she was strung up by her feet and interrogated for days, explaining over and over that she was alone and had no friends left. the leader of this mysterious group, who called himself the pope, offered to integrate her into the society, which he called the reapers. she took it, wanting to feel like she belonged somewhere again. she was trained to fight against what the pope described as a lowly group of scoundrels who worked very well together as a group and were allied with several other survivor communities in the area. as soon as they engaged in the first battle with these so-called scoundrels, emily realized who exactly she was up against: her own brother, his wife, and his son. she was torn between her found family and the family she shared blood with. after being invited back to the camp they had set up in the woods, realizing all the injuries caused by being strung up by the ankles, the way they flayed their victims until they were bleeding out and zombified, she made the tough but ultimate decision to leave the reapers, fighting alongside her brother and sister-in-law and ultimately joining the rebel task force against the commonwealth.
