The national symbols of Shardiland are more than emblems — they are living expressions of our Republic’s identity, ideals, and aspirations. Each one, from the flag and anthem to the coat of arms and official motto, tells a part of the story we are writing together: a story of sovereignty through peace, of law guided by reason, and of unity built through diversity.
These symbols reflect the values at the heart of Shardiland: scientific progress, democratic order, civic virtue, and cultural pride. Though our Republic is still in formation, our symbols already stand as powerful representations of the nation we are becoming — shared by citizens, envisioned by the Founders, and honoured by all who believe in the possibility of a better future.
Explore this section to discover the meaning, design, and significance behind the symbols that give Shardiland its soul.
The Coat of Arms of the Republic of Shardiland is a deeply symbolic national emblem, uniting the spirit of the Founders with the guiding principles of the Republic. Framed within a circular crest of blue and gold, the coat features four noble animals—each selected by one of the Founders to represent not only Shardiland’s foundational values, but also the personal ideals and visions each Founder brought to the birth of the nation.
🐘 The Elephant, chosen by Shardo Dingi, stands for strength, memory, and institutional discipline. As the chief architect of Shardiland’s defence structure, Shardo saw in the elephant the embodiment of calm power, strategic intelligence, and respect for tradition—qualities essential to safeguarding the Republic.
🦄 The Unicorn, selected by Alboodles Cadoodles , symbolises imagination, dignity, and cultural purity. As guardian of Shardiland’s heritage and identity, Alboodles chose this mythic creature to reflect the nation’s devotion to ideals, symbolism, and civic inspiration—a vision that binds past, present, and future.
🐢 The Tortoise, chosen by Marco Sanz represents wisdom, longevity, and the patient construction of enduring institutions. As author of the Constitution and principal legal architect, Marco saw the tortoise not as slow, but as deliberate—a creature that moves with purpose, grounded in thought and unwavering in its progress.
🐼 The Panda, selected by Phaytherux Calerux , symbolises diplomacy, peace, and ecological harmony. As the designer of Shardiland’s infrastructure and international outlook, Phaytherux chose the panda to represent softness without weakness, calm negotiation, and the balance between national progress and planetary responsibility.
Encircling the emblem is the formal title: "The Republic of Shardiland", a declaration not only of what is, but of what is becoming. Beneath the shield lies the national motto:
Cogitamus Ergo Praevalemus – We Think, Therefore We Prevail.
These words express Shardiland’s unshakeable belief that intelligence, reflection, and collective reasoning shall always triumph over ignorance, haste, and fear.
As the Republic continues its path toward sovereignty, this Coat of Arms stands as a symbol of the strength and serenity of its mission—one built not on conquest, but on character.
The national flag of Shardiland is a bold and striking banner that embodies the values, identity, and unity of the Republic in formation. Its unique design reflects both the diversity of the nation and its coherent commitment to progress, reason, and shared destiny.
Top Horizontal Blue Band:
The deep blue band at the top symbolises peace, wisdom, and Shardiland’s devotion to thoughtful diplomacy and calm governance. It also reflects the surrounding sea, as Shardiland is envisioned as an archipelago nation, and the vast expanse of ideas that guide its foundation.
Three Vertical Panels (Red–Purple–Red):
The three vertical fields at the bottom represent the tripartite balance of the Republic’s spirit:
The red panels stand for strength, civic passion, and the sacrifices made in the pursuit of sovereignty and justice.
The central purple panel represents the unity between intellect and heart — a blend of legal reason and cultural depth. It is also a nod to dignity, complexity, and constitutional nobility.
Golden Stars:
Each red panel bears a prominent golden five-pointed star, symbolising the guiding principles of the Republic. The left star represents the people of Shardiland, whose will legitimises the state. The right star represents the law, the framework that binds and protects all citizens. Their placement on opposite sides signifies the necessary balance between freedom and structure.
The flag is deliberately asymmetric in colour yet balanced in meaning. It visually expresses a central truth of the Republic: that unity is not found in uniformity, but in the harmony of different ideas, traditions, and institutions working together.
The colours — blue, red, purple, and gold — are used throughout official insignia and reflect the Republic’s foundational virtues:
Blue for reason and peace
Red for passion and sacrifice
Purple for sovereignty and intellect
Gold for enlightenment, justice, and vision
“Shardiland, Islands of Shardiland”
Lyrics by the Founders
Adopted in the spirit of unity and sovereignty
🎶
Shardiland, Islands of Shardiland, our glorious country
Vegetation is everywhere and the peace is always there
From the green meadows of Ailsa Craig to the great city of Xumar
There is a flag elevated to the sky which you can see from the county all abroad
May the elephant, the turtle, and the panda and the unicorn run free through the lands of...
Shardiland, Islands of Shardiland, our glorious country
Tall mountains and tropical sand, forest and tranquil they shall be
From the little college of Atalungyar to the beaches of Shing Lang
Shardiland, Islands of Shardiland, a beacon rising high
From the fields of light to the evening calm, Shardiland will always stand
May the dreams of the founders now come true and a nation thus create
And may peace and wisdom ever shine on the shores of Shardiland
The anthem celebrates the natural beauty, harmony, and imagined geography of the Republic in formation. It honours the land’s peaceful spirit, the balance between progress and preservation, and the living presence of the Republic’s four symbolic animals — the elephant, unicorn, turtle, and panda — who roam freely as guardians of identity and values.
Ailsa Craig is honoured as the symbolic heart of the nation.
Xumar, Atalungyar, and Shing Lang are aspirational locations — representing education, multicultural heritage, and ecological wonder.
The flag “elevated to the sky” signifies Shardiland’s growing presence and aspiration for recognition.
This anthem is sung during national ceremonies, on Constitution Day, and whenever Shardilandi unity is to be honoured. It is intended to be performed with calm pride, accompanied by strings or brass, and sung by all generations.
