I am an assistant professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Virginia.
My research focuses on the development and application of statistical, machine learning, and AI methodologies for large-scale, complex-structured data, with impactful applications in precision medicine, public health, and epidemiology. A central theme of my work is the integration of trustworthy and interpretable AI with rigorous statistical inference.
I employ a diverse set of advanced tools, including non- and semi-parametric inference, distributed learning, probabilistic generative modeling, causal learning, functional data analysis, and spatial and spatiotemporal data modeling. My research aims to bridge the gap between statistical theory and AI-driven data science, enabling the extraction of reliable insights that guide scientific discovery and decision-making.
I received my Ph.D. in Statistics at Iowa State University in 2020, and I was fortunate to be advised by Professor Lily Wang and Professor Dan Nettleton.
