I am an associate professor of accounting at Loyola Marymount University (LMU). I received my Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Oregon in 2015, after which I joined LMU.
I have a broad range of research interests in archival managerial accounting, financial accounting, and taxation. My primary research adopts a multidisciplinary approach to examining the role that various decision makers, individually or as teams, play in corporate disclosure, financial reporting, and tax planning. I enjoy developing new measures of individual and team characteristics, dealing with structured and unstructured data, and designing models for organizational decision-making purposes. My research has been published in leading journals in accounting and management, such as Journal of Management Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Accounting Horizons, and Journal of Organizational Behavior, among others.
I have extensive teaching experience at Oregon and LMU. My primary teaching roles include managerial and financial accounting with an emphasis on data analytics. At LMU, I created the first data analytics course (Accounting Analytics for Decision Making) for the MSA program in Spring 2020, the first data analytics course (Strategic & Managerial Analysis) for the undergraduate accounting program in Fall 2021, and a research topics course (Topics in Business I) for the inaugural DBA program in Fall 2024. I serve as the Core Course Coordinator for Managerial Accounting at LMU since 2019 and the Chair of AAA Management Accounting Section's Instructional Resources Committee since 2024.
