Short Biography

Shagufta Henna has worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Telecommunications Software and Systems Group (TSSG), Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland from September 2018 to September 2019 on a project funded under Science Foundation of Ireland (SFI) Technology Innovation Development Award (TIDA) as part of CONNECT Centre. The main objective of the project was to develop a commercial prototype system based on Graph Neural Networks integrated to the ONAP. I have assumed a leadership role in writing various proposals at the national, e.g., Enterprise of Ireland and EU level, e.g., H2020. The position has also provided me essential training to commercialize the machine learning research in an industry setting. These trainings include SFI SPARK Pre-accelerator Programme 2018 at the Dublin City University, Ryan Academy, Ireland and Pre-commercialization Training at the National Digital Research Centre, Dublin, Ireland.

Prior to this position, I have worked as an Assistant Professor for five years and six months in the Department of Computer Science, Bahria University, Islamabad, Pakistan. I received a PhD scholarship from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for PhD in United Kingdom. I earned a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Leicester, UK in 2013 under the supervision of Professor Thomas Erlebach and Professor Rick Thomas (Emeritus Professor). I received the M.S. degree in Computer Science from the COMSATs University, Islamabad in 2008. I graduated with a BS (Hons.) in Computer Science from the University of Central Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan in 2006. In 2018, the Bahria University, Islamabad has given me Distinguished Teacher of the year award for 2017.
