Hi Dear,
I am Shafiqullah Yousafzai, a PhD graduate in Economics and Public Policy from the University of Tsukuba, Japan. My research lies at the intersection of international trade and development economics, with a particular focus on how trade exposure affects household welfare, spatial inequality, and child labor outcomes.
My work combines rigorous econometric methods with micro-level household data and geospatial satellite information, including night-time lights as proxies for local economic activity. I am especially interested in identifying causal effects using trade-cost instruments, gravity-model frameworks, and quasi-experimental designs such as Difference-in-Differences and 2SLS approaches.
Previously, I taught Macroeconomics and Development Economics at Pamir Institute of Higher Education. My academic training and teaching experience have strengthened my interest in empirical research that informs policy debates on trade, inequality, and economic development.
Sincerely,
Shafiqullah Yousafzai
