Droid Mate, an Android application developer, has now launched a new App called Shady Contacts that is claimed to help users save sensitive information of their Android devices from prying eyes.

This application allows Android users to anonymously keep call records and messages from contacts they do not wish to showcase in front of other users or family members.

Shady Contacts allow users to secure call logs and contact information from stock applications. Along with that the application also allows users to hide messages that the user receives from contacts that they do not wish others to see.

The application makes use of a pattern based or a numeric PIN to secure the application so that even if somehow users get to the application they could not be able to access the content that has been hidden. To add more security users can also choose to hide the application itself form the explorer and can access it by simply punching in ***123456###. You can customise the number as well.

This post is for those folks who want to hide their text messages and call details from certain numbers on their phones. We can do this on Android by locking your phone with a password or drawing a pattern. But what if you want to hide call logs and text messages from certain specific contacts? This is where Shady Contacts app ends up being helpful.

That's where Shady Contacts may come in useful. The Android application hides communication with select contacts in the phone so that someone who accidentally takes a look at it will have a hard time finding those information. I would not go as far to call it a cheating application as there are other harmless uses, but it certainly will have its appeal in this regard. You can use it to make any communication private on the phone, be it with your doctor, priest, mistress or ex-boyfriend.

The first thing you do after installation is to create a lock pattern that protects the information on the phone. Once you have done that you can start adding contacts to the contact list. This can be done by selecting numbers from your current call log, from the existing list of contacts, or by setting up custom contacts that are not listed in the default address book.

If you want to hide communication with select contacts on your phone, Shady Contacts is the way to go.While it certainly may be confusing at first to configure the application, you will quickly notice that it works more or less automatic after that initial configuration.

Hello, I was testing ST and just out of curiosity I ran the sublime_text.exe file on VirusTotal. The weird thing is VT says that the exe contacts a domain x1.c.lencr.org.

Upon searching this domain on the internet, it says that it is used to hijack browsers and load adware and bloatware on them. My question is, why VirusTotal says that Sublime contacts such a domain? My pc is not infected as I tested more exe files and they seem to be ok.
