Shabnam Hakimi, Ph.D.

I'm a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke University. My work with Alison Adcock examines how motivational context influences individual learning and decision making. Using computational, multimodal approach in both healthy and clinical populations, I translate the neuroscience of motivated learning to more effective, personalizable interventions for individual behavior change.

Prior to joining the Motivated Memory Lab, I trained at the University of Colorado Boulder, Caltech, the National Institute of Mental Health, and Stanford University. I also have industry experience in driving health behavior change, having served as the Director of Behavioral Labs at Welltok, a health optimization company focused on developing engaging interventions for health behaviors. I earned my Ph.D. in Computation and Neural Systems from Caltech in 2014.
