Shabnam Hakimi, Ph.D.

I'm a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke University. My work with Alison Adcock examines how motivational context influences individual learning and decision making. Using computational modeling and a multimodal approach in both healthy and clinical populations, I translate the neuroscience of motivated learning to more effective, personalizable interventions for individual behavior change.

Prior to joining the Motivated Memory Lab, I trained at the University of Colorado Boulder, Caltech, the National Institute of Mental Health, and Stanford University. I also have industry experience in driving health behavior change, having served as the Director of Behavioral Labs at Welltok, a health optimization company focused on developing engaging interventions for health behaviors. I earned my Ph.D. in Computation and Neural Systems from Caltech in 2014.
