How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
If you want maximum battery life and a simple, low-maintenance everyday pair of earbuds, choose SGNICS AGM M7; if you need serious sweat-and-water protection for hard training, choose JBL Endurance Race 2. That is the whole decision in one line. Everything below is just me showing my work.
• SGNICS AGM M7 — biggest strength: 13mm dynamic drivers and a 31-hour total battery figure, in a light 3.8g in-ear shell that reconnects automatically the moment you open the case.
• SGNICS AGM M7 — biggest trade-off: IPX4 only means it shrugs off sweat and light rain, not submersion, and there is no app, no active noise cancelling and no wing or hook to lock it in place.
• JBL Endurance Race 2 — biggest strength: An IP68 earbud rating (fully dustproof, survives being submerged past a meter in fresh or sea water), Twistlock wing enhancers, Active Noise Cancelling, Smart Ambient and a 48-hour total playback figure.
• JBL Endurance Race 2 — biggest trade-off: The charging case is only IPX2, so wet buds have to be dried before they go back in, and the 6.8mm drivers are physically smaller than the SGNICS set.
• Who each pick is for: SGNICS AGM M7 → commuters, students and desk workers who want long listening time and don't plan to swim in them. JBL Endurance Race 2 → runners, gym regulars, swimmers-adjacent athletes and anyone who wants noise cancelling plus awareness modes.
The AGM M7 is a straightforward true-wireless in-ear built around one big idea: a 13mm compound diaphragm dynamic driver. That is a large driver for this class of earbud, and the design intent is obvious — fuller low end and more texture in the midrange than you'd expect from a compact set. If your listening is mostly music, podcasts and YouTube on the train or at a desk, that driver size is the spec that actually matters to you.
It's also light. At 3.8g per bud with an ABS+PC shell and an in-ear fit, it's the kind of earbud you forget you're wearing. Touch controls handle play/pause, calls and waking Siri. The IPX4 rating handles sweat and drizzle. What it does not handle: swimming, heavy downpours, or being dunked. There's no ANC, no ambient mode and no app — the tuning is what it is out of the box. Skip the AGM M7 if you train hard, run in the rain, or want to dial in your own EQ. Buy it if you want a light, long-lasting daily driver with a big driver and zero fuss.
JBL Endurance Race 2: Who It's For
The Endurance Race 2 is built for people who sweat on purpose. The headline is IP68 on the earbuds themselves: fully dustproof and waterproof, rated to survive being submerged deeper than a meter in both fresh water and sea water. That is a different category of protection from IPX4. The case is IPX2 — rain-resistant, not submersible — and JBL is explicit that you need to dry the buds and the case before charging. Read that as a real ownership habit, not a footnote.
Fit is the second design decision. The ergonomic wing enhancer uses Twistlock technology, which JBL describes as delivering a better seal and more stability in the ear. In practice that's a hook-shaped earpiece with silicone construction and swappable enhancers, which is the opposite philosophy to a plain in-ear bud: it's meant to stay put through movement. You also get three sizes of ear tips in the box, which matters because a good seal is what makes both the bass and the noise cancelling work.
Then there's the feature stack. Active Noise Cancelling filters out steady background noise, and Smart Ambient lets you control how much of the outside world you hear without removing the buds — useful on a busy street or when someone talks to you mid-run. Audio is a 6.8mm dynamic driver, 16 ohm impedance, 20Hz–20kHz, 104dB sensitivity. Battery: 12 hours per charge, 36 more in the 600mAh case, 48 hours total with ANC off, and a 10-minute top-up on the included USB-C cable gets you about four more hours. Bluetooth 5.3, roughly 10 meters of range, touch controls plus an app, and a one-year manufacturer warranty.
Side-by-Side: Which Should You Choose?
• Best for total battery life → JBL Endurance Race 2. 48 hours total (ANC off) versus 31 hours on the AGM M7.
• Best for longest single stretch without the case → JBL Endurance Race 2. 12 hours per charge versus 7.
• Best for big-driver sound on a budget-minded daily pair → SGNICS AGM M7. 13mm dynamic drivers against 6.8mm on the JBL.
• Best for water and dust → JBL Endurance Race 2, clearly. IP68 earbuds versus IPX4.
• Best for gym, running and outdoor training → JBL Endurance Race 2. Twistlock wing enhancers plus included tips and enhancer sizes.
• Best for noise control and situational awareness → JBL Endurance Race 2. ANC plus Smart Ambient; the AGM M7 has neither.
• Best for light, forget-you're-wearing-them comfort → SGNICS AGM M7. 3.8g per bud with a plain in-ear fit.
• Best for plug-in-and-go simplicity → SGNICS AGM M7. No app, no EQ, no drying ritual — open the case and it reconnects.
In my opinion, the JBL Endurance Race 2 is the one I'd buy. The IP68 rating, Twistlock fit, ANC, Smart Ambient and 48-hour battery figure make it the more capable product across more real situations — gym, rain, long days, noisy commutes. The AGM M7 is a legitimately appealing alternative if you mostly listen indoors, want that larger 13mm driver and prefer a lighter, simpler earbud you never have to think about. But the moment sweat, rain or movement enters the picture, the JBL wins on the specs that matter. Check the current price on Amazon before you commit, since that's the one variable I can't weigh for you.
FAQ
JBL, on paper: 12 hours per charge and 48 hours total with ANC off, versus 7 hours per charge and about 31 hours total on the AGM M7. JBL also adds a 10-minute speed charge for roughly four extra hours.
No. It has an ENC microphone for clearer calls, but no active noise cancelling and no ambient/awareness mode. The JBL Endurance Race 2 has both ANC and Smart Ambient.
The JBL Endurance Race 2. The IP68 rating, Twistlock wing enhancer and swappable ear tips and enhancers are all designed to keep the buds stable and protected during hard training. The AGM M7's IPX4 and plain in-ear fit are fine for light activity, but not built for serious sweat or rain.
